The Cosmic Dreamsweeper

This guardian originated on a subaquatic planet, in the outermost regions of space. After many years of evolution, it sprouted exceptional wings in addition to tentacles. These traits allow it to propel itself elegantly through the cosmos. It feasts on light, which it stores in the orb-like appendage balanced atop its head. In times of plenty, it saves future meals in bubble-like capsules, which drift around its body in an ethereal spectacle. Ancient astronomers and philosophers recorded several sightings of this creature in the night sky. Many believed that its presence indicated a bridge between the waking world and dreams, which is how the name "Cosmic Dreamsweeper" first originated.

Because dreams are simply configurations of light stored within the mind, the Cosmic Dreamsweeper has the ability to devour dreams, or else gift them in capsules of light. The majority of human feats come from a moment of inspiration spurred by the Cosmic Dreamsweeper. Its light capsules are the ultimate muse and the source of every "eureka!" Such enormous powers led to its inauguration as "Guardian of the Key" in the 5th century BCE.

The key grants access to the mysterious Dreamhatcher, which allows the user to fulfill their grandest desires. The Cosmic Dreamsweeper protects this key from potentially dangerous seekers. It does so by siphoning away the light that emanates from the seeker's dreams. This leaves the seeker feeling bewildered and disinterested. Perhaps if someone were to ever approach the Cosmic Dreamsweeper with a truly vibrant mind, full of undeniable brightness, then it would give them access to the Dreamhatcher...
