Description Someone who lived a life, that didn't differ greatly from the life of an insect..
Who concerned himself almost solely with his work,
doing everything he could to provide for his family.
Who did not have any real friends or hobbies
and maintained a distant relationship with his family.
He was anything but a normal human being.
He does not turn into a beetle; he simply recognizes
that he has been one for quite some time.
And eventually he cannot handle it any longer.
He finally realizes that he serves as an insect
that carries out his family's work in order for them to continue living lazily.
Thus the metamorphosis occurs.

His physical metamorphosis happened overnight,
and it took place only in his imagination..
But the real change occurred much slower.
The real metamorphosis had been years in the making..

When he wakes up to discover who he really is,
he can not even recognize himself.

How many of us feel the same?

I remember in high school , our English Teacher was a Big Buff of Kafka and to look at this Teacher , all I could think was , BUDDY YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE ! He was 6'4" and bigger than any line backer I ever saw , yet when he read he could draw you in and smother you with his voice . He turned my life around with the literature he offered and reading stories like this proved to me that the minds of these people we read are information banks that we should pay attention to .

a fer instance , POLITICS ! and when something gets WEIRD , it's Kafkaesque !

as per another comment , facial expression , otherwise gute uber alles ! , my German is shite , ha , ha , lol

now , ya all get back to being a Tax Base and a Beast Of Burden for that small priviledgedΒ  bunch

Huh, when I read the book I imagined him as tiny as a cockroach could be.

I hated the end it was a good book but it just made me so damn depressed

Oh my god, that's terrific! Excellent job! You caught the tale's atmophere.

geez; 3 pages of comments. the work is that good, but it makes me less prone to read through them all before I ask my question to see if it's been brought up before. sorry about that.

what if everyone has interpreted it wrong and he didn't transform into a cockroach, but, maybe, a beetle? I'm not saying this to invalidate your work, but because Kafka isn't blunt. I say it more as another path for additional exploration. I believe, given the context he was writing about, a cockroach is most likely. wiggle room is one place art happens.

I really like this work, except for the fact that in the story Gregor is not really alarmed at all. That's one of the elements that makes the story uncanny.

So - aside from the facial expression - I think it's perfect! Bravo!

I think I love you! Do you make a lot of photo-manipulations with Ravens/Black birds because of Franz Kafka, too? You're the first person I've seen who has done this. I always loved the Ravens because I think that's what Kafka means in German or Czech=Blackbird/Raven, or something. So the Black bird always reminds me of Kafka.

I have just seen all the "favorites" you gave me on my little work. Thank you for your kindness. But your work is actually good. Every time I look through your gallery, it's like watching a Gothic film because each image seems to connect to the others, yet they each tell their own stories within themselves. It's very entertaining and I thank you for the opportunity to enjoy these.

The gargantuan disfigure man-turning-insect from the inside out drew me to the picture with its interesting message, but that subtle emotion of the girl is what really captured me. This piece is so remarkable!

The picture is distressing enough
More than anything i believe Metamorphosis is a story of low self esteem and deep depression.

Wow this piece is really powerful, I looked at it for a few minutes and it really sent shivers down my spine But very well done, I really like the way his body is really one with the insect. Interesting message as well, I never thought of kafka that way (but I haven't read him either).
