This sketch was completed fairly quickly as part of a series of portrait exercises.Materials: Charcoal with pastel highlights and deep shadows.

Hya!
I saw on your front-page a request for critiques so I figured I'd have a look
I like the detail in this on better than the first, but both are really good (probably better than I can do)
A very unusual perspective for this one though, its not very often you see a portrait viewed from below eye level, but it looks great The proportions and positions of facial features are spot-on, and her hair looks amazing!
My only suggestion would have been to add some suggestion of her other eye under her hair. Nothing too noticable as to take away from the rest of the portrait, just something faint, so you could see it if you were looking
Otherwise, this is fantastic
I'll be watching for more!

Thanks for the critique.
It's the kind of thing I'm looking for: Specific, detailed, nuanced & rational. It was a great help.
I leave the posted work as is because I don't want to overwork/damage the paper and of course the drawing.
Your suggestion will definitley be applied to subsequent portraits.
