Description ... about a year ago (or longer?), we got to work on short stories for the game PROTOTYPE. The panel sizes were 'fixed' because the stories were first going to be released as individual panels on the game's website I think, then when all the stories were out online, they would be collected into a printed issue.

Whenever time allows, I prefer to color my own stuff, but if that is not possible for deadline reasons, then I like to do 'greyscale' guides for the colorist (hopefully make their job easier too), and also helps me establish light-sources and 'mood' without having to render the hell out of the black and white work.

Was there ever a hardcover? Right now I'm waiting until OCTOBER for your next hardcover...

Your work is awesome, how long does it take to do a page like this?

it really depends... sometimes the 'simpler' pages are the ones that take forever... but the average page takes anywhere from 4 to 10 hours I'd say... pencils and inks that is.

Thanks for answering. You are really talented, and I would pick up any comic or piece you made just from looking at your style. What project are you working on now?

should the colorists make then the same in greyscale and just puting color over it or is this just for defining how the general light/shadow should be?

Chuckdee In reply to comic-coloring [2009-10-06 19:53:10 +0000 UTC]

I give them layered files, so the shadows are on their own layer, and so are the lighter values, so if the colorist chooses to, they can just use the rendering I gave them.

yeah, 'cause it's my call to do those, I'm not really required to do them. If I do 'em it's 'cause I'm a control freak! hahahah

cool beans Dude! ...those pages are actually fairly old, I think I did them about two years ago (more or less), but you know how it is, it's always 'iffy' to release stuff until after it's been published!

...Dude, so where's your show at this Friday?!?

OH MAN!!!! I've been playin Arkham and seen your work on the character profiles and now this?!!! you have no idea how much I loved prototype! It was the closest thing to a great concept that really fitted with my idea of a modern day superhero I've ever played or seen, and I'm so happy you are the one taking it to comic form!!!! absolutely a fan!
