I love it when you're reading a book and you're like "how much of this dragon is actually described?", this fanart is such a good depiction of that!

The Inheritance Cycle does an okay job with Saphira, although 2 pages describing her wings when 'batlike wings' would have been a quicker way to describe them was a bit much.

If you want a truly difficult dragon to imagine, the Dreamwalker books by J D Oswald don't have any description of dragons aside from occasional scale colour, and they live in houses and sit in chairs so they might be bipedal??? anthro??? who knows??? Only right near the end of the book does it explain that dragon wings are too small to carry them, which is annoying because all through the book you have characters saying "oh that area is hard to get to because I am not good at climbing!" leading the reader to say "but you're a dragon tho". The fact that dragons cannot fly is brought up by the main character who has a dream of flying and all the other dragons are like "that makes you a special Dreamwalker!" then the book ends. People who have read further on in the series confirm that there isn't a lot of dragon descriptions in these books.
