Description
This was another Illustration for the Palladiumbooks Splicers RPG. The Dreadguard was a bio-armor known as a host armor type. I pictured it in a greytone white tiger scheme.Related content

Awe... Why Thank You so much for the compliments Guyvantic! Cyber-demon works well for me and I can't wait for you to see my more recent Dreadguard Host Armor designs I have cooking. They should debut in the upcoming SPLICERS sourcebook(s).

When i always look at this artwork, it always inspires me to draw just as good as this but every time i look back at this it makes my work looks terrible in comparison.
great jobs on this outstanding masterpiece you have made.

If only the entire book had been illustrated by you. Your creature and armor designs were truly inspired.

Awe...thank you for the compliment but there were some nice pieces in there that I didn't do as well! However, for the next book, I have a great deal more illustrations in there that I think will put my others to shame, smile. This go around I had alot more to do with the creation and concept process so I think this book will really shine, not for the artwork but for the very concepts and story that is in there. It will reveal & establish the setting that Splicers is far more than just some supposed Guyver meets Terminator.

Don't fill in too many of the gaps, though. What I liked about the book was that much of the world was left in the hands of the GM.

I too am in love with this piece. I would like to base an armor design drawing on it, if I may. My imagination has been playing with your design since I laid eyes on it. This is a beautiful piece of work all the way around.

Thanks again Mighty Newton, I really have a war with this one as I see so many ways to improve it and have done so in the new work that I am doing. As soon as I finish the new book art, you will see what I mean.& By All means use what ever you see fit.

I can't thank you enough for that. Of course, the reverse is true - anything you see of mine you like, feel free to make use of it. As it is, I'll be practicing my "mad Jaguar skills" over the holidaze... I've got this image of a white tiger symbiont armor that I just can't get out of my head... ^_^

WOW!! Talk about Great minds thinking alike! I was working on a White Tiger Smilodon Host armor for the Great House of Artemis's Warlord. I figured that since he is the Warlord he wouldn't need to be so concerned with camouflage in the field because if he is in the field in his HA then it is Open War or a Challenge for his Rank. I also figured he would have an enhanced stealth field if for some reason he needed to be undetected.
I would love to see what you come up with as well and I am sure many others would! Yeah the Holidays will be a busy one for me as well. What you working on over there anyways, XD?

What can I say except that the Dreadguard Host Armor makes my brain go fizz?^_^
Definitely, a warlord wouldn't be that worried about camouflage, not on an open battlefield. I agree with advanced stealth/invisibility capability for the suit - when ya gotta fade, fade COMPLETELY. We definitely gotta compare notes after the holidaze.
As to what I'm working on right now: Currently I'm doing some illustrations for another RPG book by a local publisher here. Today, I start negotiating on a gig I got turned onto yesterday - this dude has a storyline that he's doing books, comics, music and God-knows-what-all with, and he's interested in my artwork for his project. Wish me luck!

I am impressed.
To make the metal things shine, you really need some more light and shadow in your drawing.
But this is an old picture i see, so i dont know about the new changes

Yeah, I have some new Dreadguard Host Armor that will surely showcase light and shadows, though these armors are bio-organic, NO Metal.... \
Metal belongs to the Machines, the hated enemy of the Dreadguards.

he looks like his armor would be build of bone, and this material covering his leg looks like it would have veins, he must be realy short cause all his mass is compressed that right arm rifle is awsome but usually robots have only half of their arms as rifle if it's always this way
awsome work

ChuckWalton In reply to Wolcik [2006-03-17 19:27:24 +0000 UTC]
Definitely a bone style bone armor with this adorned by the human resistance. It seems compressed and that is actually good, because I wanted a stocky appearance for this 6'8:" or 7 ft bio- armor. It delivers a broader feel, thus more impressive. Think of how a jaguar is short and squat in build but is full of power. Most animals that are robust or compressed as you would put it are full of power lb for lb. That is what I looked for with this armor. Perhaps A human standing next to the armor would have given proper scale.
The tentacle cannon onthe right arm is actually a mounted weapon, similar to Transformers Galvatron. The right arm is actually like the left, just with a heavy bio cannon mounted on it. The rt. hand is actually resting atop of the hilt of the sword weapon on the rt side

Wow this is so cool, I mean I love the detail and sheer power coming from this drawing. The armor and spickes are so bad ass. Very wicked.
