Life is unkind, the old crones said. But duty preserves.
Life is fickle, sad and twisted. Forlorn, evermore does pain torment. Choices become burdensβso great, remorse pursues a step behind. Abandon is but the first twine to foul, and when years come to pass, the rueful forgotten, loath ripens and arises to take form.
Perhaps, had we been able to uphold it, this might have not become.
So the old crones said.
