It's obvious Ponies eat meant. They keep chickens for eggs at least and as seen in Sisterhooves Social that they don't just use them for baking. Even more to the point Applejack keeps pigs, whose sole purpose could be is for meat.

The thing with MLP:FiM ponies that people seem to confuse is that... They -just- don't eat *meat*, that's all.
The fact that they are ponies, of course, make them like 99% vegetarian, but they aren't ''vegan''... they don't seem to go crazy about the use of milk and eggs.

Seriously. It's never been outright stated, but it's pretty obvious that Luna and Celestia are goddesses.

Be that as it may she is never called "god." I mean people call God by god, so by that logic, they would call Celestia by her name, not god.

but i'm pretty sure that i've heard them say "oh Celestia" once or twice in the show, and considering that she's an immortal being in control of the sun and moon, that makes her a god

I understand that, and I'm not saying they don't see her as a god, I'm arguing they wouldn't scream out "Oh god!" referring to her, they would scream something like "Oh Celestia!"

Depends on the god in question. There are several fantasy stories in which a god is known by his or her name just as they are several in which a god is known only by a title.
In the end, it really doesn't matter one way or the other. It could simply be that alicorns are a race of pony with a much longer lifespan than all others, but I prefer the goddess explanation.

Be they ''real'' gods or not, they do fit into the general definition of a RPG/adventure/Fantasy 'god'.
So, to all intents and purposes, they are essentially goddesses in MLP:FiM.
