Well, I don't know exactly, but in your case, see your work recognized in a sea of fanfics, which in turn is inside a other world - the Internet - with billions of pages, receive a Special mention is a sign that you have a lot of fans.

I still dunno, I'd rather have some kind of confirmation from the makers of TDI. I know Izzy and Bridgette are very popular, but is Ezekiel yet?

Well, I think the only way they will not recognize your work is not having Internet! Well, I think Bridgette and Izzy has every reasons to win the hearts of fans, but in my opinion, a lot of Ezekiel's fans prefer his fanon perfomance, since his acting in the canon was somewhat limited.

Limited? I'll say! Three episodes in TDI, in which he just royally and accidentally screws up his chances. One clap in all of TDA, and a few lines of him trying to have "street cred" in the TDA special.
His fans more or less develop on the little they get and expand on that. I imagine it would be the same if Gwen, Duncan, or Izzy got barely any time, they'd just be developed by the fans!

Really! I've even imagine Ezekiel saying, "You hate me because I'm Black!" Street cred, oh, okay! The most that he got was being stolen by a beggar!
In fact, when producers choose to give limited roles for certain characters, the fanbase takes care of the rest! Or, in other cases, give a little more depth or mature personality to the characters that are already in the spotlight - even if for the wrong reasons, like Duncan.

I wonder if TDC had been based on another of the characters who barely saw the limelight, like Noah or Katie, if all this would have been different.

In fact, it would be great to see an episode based on the opinion of the fans, as in Kim Possible. A plot where the more obscure characters had a little most prominent role perhaps could better seize their personalities.

I don't know exactly what Kim Possible did, but one example I can think of is Little Kuriboh's YuGiOh Abridged series with the Bakura episode.

Disney decided to make an episode based on the thousands of fanfics and fanarts about the show, showing a short friendship between Kim and Shego.

Well, I can say it was a great episode because it had a little deeper plot - which reminds me of your reply for the Zeke's behavior in your last Journal, as you explore his personality and biography before TDI, but it seems that not many people understand that.

I really didn't expect my story to get as popular as this, not by a long shot. I just wanted to give Home School a real shot. Most of what the fans said guided it, I wasn't even planning on half of what was planned to happen.

Well, many things in life achieve great results, regardless of the will or the initial expectations the creator: Alberto Santos-Dumont (Brazilian inventor, pioneer of the aviation)did not expect his invention, the world's first aircraft to take off on their own (1906, three years after the Wright Brothers, but the plane did not need a catapult), would reach such magnitude at that time... Nor that it would used as an instrument of mass destruction in wars. But in your case, I think the situation is a little happier. Even if you have not planned how it will end, at least you have the essential: the incentive. This, plus the inspiration that comes from so many fans, is a great help - as long as known to balance things.
Your idea is also good. Much of the success depends on seeing the details that many overlook, in this case, give Zeke a decent shot...

Well, although this is supposed to be a reality show, it's inevitable there will be a little more focus for your favorite characters, in fact, as a fictional story, this is perfectly normal. I think this is only the dissatisfaction of some fans by not see their favorites with the as much the desired space.

I really hate how there's unspoken rules to these reality TV fanfictions. I'm sorry, but as I've learned, everyone has favorites. You cannot bloody please everyone when every 22 of them has fans. So yes, some characters are going to have more time. The idea that you can give everyone focus, or reduce the amount for the characters who are going to go furthest, is absolutely ridiculous.
Seriously, are the people who are going to go all the way supposed to just sit around and do nothing until it's near the finals?

I agree. Give the same space for all the characters would hinder the development of the plot, or leave it dull - in the happier hypotesis. That's why there are the words "protagonist", "antagonist" and "supporting character."
Really. You can only give a definite critical after seeing the job finished, so here's a tip for all who criticize your text before you even read it just because you decided to give focus to Ezekiel:

Well, Eva did yank her hair. That is pretty much a "the gloves come off" moment.

I still don't think she's as perfect as you think she is. Anita's conversation with Cody was an awkward question if he liked oranges; she's not exactly the seduction queen, if you know what I mean.

We all have our problems with writing. I know how fickle I can be at times.
It's really sad how much people try to censor things for kids. I mean seriously, they're trying to make big babies out of them. They censor any swear words, curse words, and cleavage; but then they point to characters like Duncan and other bullies and say, "He's the hero, he's cool!" ><

So Naturally society kids just want to be like ROLE MODEL CIT and Duncan. xP I resisted flaming that I HATE HAROLD pic with the stupid girl taking away Harold's glasses and spray painting him in the eyes.
Hey Kids! What happens when you put spray paint in someone's eyes? You win a trip to the emergency room for poison! And INTENTIONAL harm to others earns you time with the boys in blue.

Real life bullies are funny to everyone but the people they're bullying. Well, of course, there are people who don't find it funny when they witness it either. But when the whole class or all the teens around are laughing up a storm over what the bully did, you don't really care.
