Took me quite some time to find the right spot to get the composition right in this one, especially since it was quite dark!

Exposure time in this one is about 110 minutes, but with all the test shots and resets of the composition it's prolly a couple of hours more spent on getting this shot right.

Just a tip to avoid bulb mode (since you cant see the result until its done). Just use a intervalometer and have intervals of 30secs. That way there will be minimal light pollution as well. Then just take the 100's of photos and combine them with a startrail program. Saves you alot of trouble as opposed to using one single shutter! But anyway, cool shot

Thanks! But thats exactly the way it's made .. I was unclear in the earlier comment, sorry!
The total exposure time is 110 minutes, divided into 110 x 1 minute exposures. Still using Bulbmode though. I found 1 minute to give the right(?) balance between usable light into the camera and noise level.
If I had used a single 110 minute exposure the noise would have made the shot unusable. Using 110 single shot exposures combined, the noise is cancelling itself.

No, this is shot with a "Hähnel Giga T Pro" timer on the camera. Then through StarStax + Photoshop CS3!
If I remember correctly this is about 110x60sec exposures, camera shooting away by itself while I lay on a rock closeby watching the skies.

What this is?

It's a shot of the night-sky. The camera was placed so that the Polestar was just above the wooden-pole. Then a series of shots were taken, each one of 60 seconds exposure time. The shots were afterwards composited and blended together to make this final picture.

They sure are!
Though patience and nerves is everything. When the temperature is getting close to 0°C and you can hear the wildboar and the moose running around you in the dark; grabbing the tripod and making a run for the car way before the shots are done isn't too far fetched!

Really stretching time here on 24 fps. A clip that should be 2 seconds is stretched to 15 sec, with a few experimental tricks to try to minimize the frame lag.
