Description
Painting process for my Lifeguard painting, which can be seen here!Decided to change the format of how I make these, I think it works better.
Steps!
1. I sketched a lot. I drew multiple compositions and different variations of the monster until I decided on the final composition seen throughout the painting. Some had more detail of the monster, some done at different angles; yet in the end, this was the one that I enjoyed the most.
2. I quickly traced my line art and blocked in the colors and shading. Wasn't a need to spend much time here since the details should come later.
3. I started my details. I went and blended in the colors, along with making areas darker (the corners/under the monster) and lighter (the head, the eye).
4. After most of the details were done, I started adding in highlights. I also went in and painted over some colors to make them brighter/more saturated (such as the water, parts of the monsters head). I also decided upon making someone come in to rescue the child. I was having a hard time deciding on what to put in the background since I didn't want to make it look like they left the child to die. So! Someone rescuing worked just well.
Final. For my finishing touches, I repainted the eye to make it glow and added in adjustment layers to raise the contrast and bright/darkness.
And that's it! Hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for looking! Pizza.
