Savage Spell Part I continued...

“Several minutes passed still nothing…no sign of vengeful spirits from hell clamoring to steal my soul. Then a sudden chill crawled up my spine. It must just be the air conditioning vent, I reassured myself. But the chill persisted then I began to feel a stinging sensation at the base of my spine as if there were many needles being inserted into my back. This pain gradually made it’s way up my back to the base of my skull. What the hell is this!? I began to question my own sanity as the pain became all the more apparent and unbearable. Had the book contained some sort of hallucinogenic drug or was my own mind playing tricks?

The stinging turned into a throbbing pain, the best way to describe it would be putting your back against an open bonfire. It’s all in your head Maggie…it’s psychosomatic, psychosomatic…that old man was full of. Ah! I felt the back of my jeans begin to tighten. RRIIIPPP! The pain was gone…but there was a tail! That’s right a damn tail! It was moving, swaying back and forth. This can’t be real I’m either losing my mind or this is a really involved nightmare. It stopped moving…was I controlling it? From the looks of it…it must’ve been a tiger tail or some stripped animal with orange fur. When I touched it I could feel the sensation of my fingers tips but it was coming from the tail. What the hell is going on here? Before I could fathom my new tail the pain returned this time over my entire body. I felt as though I was going to pass out I threw down the book for fear of it causing more trouble and ran to the apartment bathroom. If this was some sort of hallucination or dream I was going to make damn well sure I’d wake up from it.”
