I kinda think like besides the Vortigaunts teaming up with the Resistance, why not the Alien Grunts?If only they manage to make an appearance in Half-Life 2 again.

I think a lot of the reason the Grunts were unused was because they don’t fit with the HL2 Aesthetic. I will admit the way they showed the factory in the remake gave me the creeps.

I see your point though, I wonder what happen to them canonically? Maybe some were killed by the Combine and some are left in the wastelands that are unexplored.

I played the game and I love the level design which makes us understand more, including the representation of the Vortigaunts as Alien Slaves and the environment.
