Enigmatix #2: Paradox

Representation: paradox, contradiction, confusion

Symbol location: chest

Age: mid-teens, around the same age as Salient

Sex: female

Species: unknown. Closest genetic match is Salient’s, but there is no evidence that they are related in a hereditary sense

Occupation: illegal villain, mythical aid

Personality: happy, childish, friendly, clever. At times she is rather devious and enjoys annoying people in a joking, little sister kind of way. She is very intelligent, but more in a “street smarts” form. She speaks in contradictions, acts in contradictions, and adores paradoxes of any kind. She’ll often say thing that make no sense just to see what reaction she gets. She almost never gets angry, and any sadness that she produces is probably done mockingly (but she can be sad sometimes). She has a thing for poetry and soothing music; if you were to say something poetic or put on a calming song, she would most likely postpone or even forget about killing you. Rock music, techno, and generally loud or fast-paced music does the opposite, compelling her to act faster.
Whether fighting, hunting, or simply conversing, she will always act in the same way stated above. Only if her opponent, by some miracle, is stronger than her will she change; she turns much more serious and almost never speaks. She respects those that are stronger than her, and likes to follow them around for a varying amount of time, but almost always attempts to kill them later.

Notable relations: Salient, her only long-term friend and potential love interest; Lofund, a Rogue Forces general who seeks to use Paradox to destroy the ADO; Tempo, (???)

Powers: By default, her “species” has the ability to mold their form and color (basically Salient’s defaults). Paradox also has the ability to alter the laws of physics around and within her, including creating sub dimensions out of unreal ones (for example, she can go into the scenes of posters or billboards). She can also manipulate kinetic energy and shape it into whatever she desires, be it pure energy to be used for attack or full weaponry such as her twin blades. With these three abilities alone, she has enough power to match a top-level Reality Bender, because there are countless combinations and powers that come out of free-range altering of physics and energy.

History: Paradox appeared some two years before or after Salient did, but wasn’t widely discovered until some time later. At first she was just a wandering entity, a child, and she would occasionally help someone she saw by using her abilities as they needed them, out of kindness. In return she learned of the universe she had stumbled upon, and became a part of the ADO’s hidden fairy tale universe (the section that subsided in fairy tale elements rather than the technologically advanced mainstream). She never exactly had a family or close friends during this time. She still chased after paradoxes.
One day while wandering, she accidentally found herself near a war ground and was attacked by a grunt soldier who didn’t realize she wasn’t a part of their battle. It was the first time she had been around such destruction and death. When he attacked, Paradox, for the first time, attacked back, defending herself out of sheer terror. She came out unscathed of course, and left the soldier with a fatal wound. Upon realizing what she had done, she urgently tried to heal him, but the soldier refused. His final words were apparently, “War is Peace”.

Considering the circumstance she had just experienced, the words rocked her to the core.

Soon after the event, the other troops found her and captured her. After it was discovered that she was not an enemy soldier but an unknown species, she was taken into their base for experimenting, and was scheduled to be shipped to the ADO Labs for further testing. They also gave her a special suit that was supposedly an experimental fabric made for their assassins, which meant they were expecting to use her as a weapon of war. Meanwhile, Paradox was still deeply concentrated on what the soldier had said, and what was going on around her. The day before she was to be shipped to the ADO, she came to the conclusion that she would leave the base, and that her favorite color was red.
