Evan Afton is infamously the Bite of 83 victim, who died at the hands of Fredbear, and would go on to possess Golden Freddy, along with Cassidy, and his soul would pass in peace after the events of FNAF 3.

William had taken his child away from Michael on that fateful day, that never happened. William, in his grief of losing his daughter, enlists the apprenticeship of Evan, to pass on his beliefs (and grief) onto Evan. Evan being the young and impressionable kid he was, William bugged the Fredbear doll, telling Evan things, and it didn’t take long for Evan to fall into Williams trap.

In 1985, Fredbears would get a complete makeover, Integrating Freddy's and Fredbear’s, into Fredbear And Friends Family Diner! Which is where Evan would “please” his father. Over the months, Evan would lure away fellow children, and even adults to the back with his child-charm and innocence, before slaughtering them. Evan had become corrupt with blood and murder.

Michael noticed that his brother was not the same as he once was. He was moody, salty, and angry all the time. It had to have been William, he thought. Michael was able to do some digging, and found out what Evan was doing, when he witnessed it first hand. Evan got dismissive and scared, but Michael knew it couldn't be him on his own accord. He pulled him aside and talked to him, and Evan explained that Fredbear had been telling him to do all these things. Michael knew what was going on. After some hard work, and long hours of one on one, he was able to turn Evan back to the nice kid he was, even if he was damaged forever. He had also disposed of the Fredbear doll.

In 1987, when Micheal was of rightful age, he left William and took Evan under his wing. Fredbears had closed, and opened up Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, with all new toy animatronics. William would commit suicide that same week Michael had taken Evan away, and Micheal and Evan would continue there lives in a new peace.
