Description
The rain poured down from above. It had started when she had to leave the battle. Already it felt like a lifetime ago when it had started, but it couldn’t have been too long. Despite seeing the healers before coming to help with traps and trenches, Fausta was very sore as she worked. She wanted to help. She didn’t want to leave so early when it had started. But now she was wondering if that had been smart. Having met Issac and helping them with their task helped keep her on the task at hand as well. Her paws were covered in mud from digging and setting traps for any drones who got passed those that were battling. It was the best she could do in her own condition. It helped to have a partner as she did, and was thankful that Issac was someone she was able to help. They were doing more than trenches, at times she saw them head off with supplies for the healers nearby them.
Speaking of Issac, Fausta realized her light-coloured packmate had stopped. Now that she thought about it, she was sure they had stopped running supplies and digging for awhile now. Instead they were staring off in a direction, worry etched on their face. Fausta became worried, and tried to get their attention, but they seemed so far deep into their thoughts. They would look at her each time she spoke and tried to get him to talk. They knew she was still there, and was speaking to get his attention as much as she could. But she could hardly hear if they were speaking, but she recognized one word at one point.
‘Home.’
Home? As in Xassa, or somewhere else? Fausta figured the latter. After all, they were looking in the opposite direction of Xassa. Stepping closer, concerned about them, Fausta wondered if they had gotten hurt? Looking around, she couldn't see any stray drones nearby.
“I have to follow it,” they whispered. “I have to go home.”
Before she could ask, Issac moved. They had ran off. Watching them from the distance for however she could, before the darkness of the rain and clouds enveloped them from her sight. Fausta was worried, however she understood what he had spoken. Maybe she should return to Xassa now. With her trench partner gone, Fausta knew she couldn’t continue. Exhaustion and pain was hitting her rather hard.
"Please Xerxes, keep Issac safe while they travel back to where they feel they're needed the most. And please, continue to keep my family safe."
Turning, she prayed to Xerxes to keep Issac safe in their travels back to their home. She also sent a prayer to keep her family as safe as he could. After all, Fausta knew that his plans for them all couldn't be deviated from. She just wanted them all to be safe. Soaked to the bone, Fausta started to limp towards Xassa. The rain washed away most of the mud, but blood continued to stain her fur.
—
With Issac leaving, Fausta decides that she must head back home to Xassa. Unfortunately the two didn’t get to interact outside of digging the trenches. But should Issac return, Fausta will welcome them back and ask about their family and how they were.
