Kristallnacht, November 1938

The bystander effect or Genovese syndrome is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases where individuals do not offer help in an emergency situation when other people are present. The probability of help has in the past been thought to be inversely related to the number of bystanders; in other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help.

Another amazing phenomenon to point out... i sure as hell don't see anymore nazi officers walking around presently, but i do see millions of good Jews still helping humanity every day.

The Jews were treated too harshly, but they were guilty of so many crimes....

I'm not trying to say you are wrong, but what are some examples of what the Jews did?

Causing the war itself?

The Germans invaded Poland AND conspired with the USSR before doing it. What did the Jews do? It's really easy to convince children the Jews are bad because they are dirty nasty people, but with the adults you either are convinced with time or you'd better believe it or you're an undesirable. Off to a work camp you go, enemy of the state!

Oh no we're losing the war. Better draft everyone 16-60 into the Heer to die for no reason. And if they don't fight we'll hang them as deserters or cowards, traitors.

Meanwhile the Jews are hiding or locked up in camps.

I don't know what I would do if I were a citizen back then. Due to my curiosity I might have watched but I still would have been horrified and wouldn't have approved. A while back I had to take a kid to the hospital to the ER and he started vomiting in the parking lot. People lined up all around us to watch him puking. People stare at the strangest things so who knows...

People like to stare at strange or unusual things, things against standard norm. As epileptic I know this very well.
When Kristallnacht occurred I guess people were torn, since propaganda told them it was the right thing to do but at the same time probably conflicted with their internal ethics.

It must have been such a horribly, horribly confusing time to be a German. You'd want to support the country you love, but so many things would nag at your conscience!
