Well, they look awful happy, whatever is going on! The Waffen SS are always smiling. I read where they were supplied with a lot of drugs to get them through the horrors of war. Maybe that explains the smiles!

Speed and morphine were their favorites. One SS doctor said that he and his colleagues were pretty much high all of the time, probably to numb themselves from their horrible surroundings. You could call it the "Blitzed-Krieg"! Of course, many soldiers had no interest in using drugs and stayed away from them...
