Miles Charles Fall would be the perfect name for such a child, they thought. Little did the timid Daniel know that on month eight, Sarah-Roxanne had already secretly decided to leave her child and husband as soon as it was born. When the day came, and a brand new baby girl was offered to an agony-inflicted Sarah-Roxanne, the brand new mother shook her head, not offering love or even a name for the child. Daniel was brought in and was informed not only that he was soon to be getting a divorce, but also that he was a single father of a little girl. Distressed, the best he could think of to do was change Miles's middle name to an only slightly less masculine "Charlie".
When Miles was a child, she attempted to make up for the lack of female influence in her life by going overboard on being a girl. She wore glittery clothes with flowers on them, and lip gloss and mascara at the age of eight. Following these years into her early teens, she decided being overly girlish just wasn't enough and began investigating her mother's wear-abouts. At this time, she donned long sleeved turtle necks, sunglasses, and let her hair hide her face, trying to become invisible and what she thought a real detective might act and look like.
In her junior year of high school, she decided to cut the act and added a bit more of a feminine touch to her wardrobe. She tied back her hair and actually looked in the mirror before leaving the house. Boys began to notice her, and in her desperation for the acceptance she never received from her mother, Miles found herself falling in love quite easily. Along with the discovery of her big heart was how easily it could get hurt. On the day of her graduation, not only did her year-long boyfriend break up with her, but her mother came to see her for the first time in her life. Miles was shocked at the resemblance she bore to Sarah-Roxanne (Her father had burned all the pictures of her in his depression, so Miles didn't have a clue what she looked like). Miles discovered that her mother was a rather terrible person and loathed her from that point onward. Attempting to look less like Sarah-Roxanne, Miles cut hair to an extremely short length and never allowed it to grow past her shoulders after that.
At 20, Miles had moved out of her father's house and moved in with her best friend since elementary school, Clover Sol, or Cloe. They lived in the flat above Miles's workplace, a music shop called Moozik. Her first job there when she was 17 was as the mascot, which included dancing outside the shop in a large cow costume with a sign. Her boss realized that this was driving away more customers than it was reeling in, so she was promoted to working in the shop with her boss's son, Riley. Riley's father died when Miles was 19, leaving the shop to his only son, and Riley moved out of the flat above the workplace, into his friend’s house, and leased the space to Miles and Cloe.
Cloe eventually got caught up in the world of the fae, falling quickly for a lion fae, Maxxiel (or just Max), and Miles quickly decided she wanted nothing to do with it. Her circumstances with her mother had made her life interesting enough, in her opinion, but Miles had already caught the eye of a blackbuck fae, Tobias (or Toby). Hard as she tried to push him away, he just kept bouncing back until eventually she fell in love with him and allowed him to be her boyfriend, though treating him with an indifferent and sometimes hostile attitude. She doesn't show affection for Tobias in front of anyone, not even Cloe, and Tobias doesn't know how deeply she actually feels for him. Miles is completely aware that Tobias would give his life without a second thought for her.
