it is funny but i really like that relation beetwen them. like two friends.... close to each other on a rainy, fogy winter day.it looks like this bird came to visit that leaf since it is so lonely. all its fellows already fell down and leaf really needs some company.
how do you see this picture?
I took this one yesterday from my room tru window with 75-300mm.

this is awesome i love how the tree fills the whole frame and the bird is just right in the middle. i also really like how the bird and the tree in the picture are the same color and in the backround is a different color.

To me, it looks as if the leaf is caged up, and the bird is it's boastful captor.

the bird looks proud in this picture. at first, the bird ruined the picture for me. i just liked the complexity of the tree's branches. i didnt even notice the leaf, really. i dont know what i think, now. its curious.

I love the aura that naturally envelops you as you look at it. Even though the branches look rather ominous with prickles and such, it doesn't seem threatening or negative at all in the picture. It is as if the bird naturally belongs there, happily in its own little special place. I can't help but admire how such a dark picture can give off such a comforting, peaceful atmosphere... or maybe it's because I'm just currently delusional.

Your description really brings it all together - i really enjoy reading what the artists think of their own work (which is why its always disappointing to see a deviation with "..." as the description). I didn't notice the leaf at first; it is awfully small compared to the bird and the thickness of the branches. But, thats not your fault, its the tree's fault.
Awesome concept, though. It looks like a cutout/silhoutte except for those water droplets hanging of the branches and those branches off in the distance. It adds unexpected depth and reality to the picture.

It reminds me of an old story I learned when I was a kid. A story about a bird stuck in the forest because of the snow. All his friends has gone elsewhere warmer. And he is here, poor and lonely in the cold...

The silhoutte brings forth good clarity.
Something with the bird's position must be adjusted to better depict its association with the leaf.
