This reminds me of my theory on Fox holding Krystal back from missions since the events of Assault(before Star Fox got "rebooted" AGAIN, but never mind that)
Said theory: He once had another love; Fara Phoenix. Unfortunately, she was KIA. She died trying to shield an already injured Slippy Toad whom, along with Falco Lombardi and Miyu Lynx, was investigating an abandoned area in space while Fox McCloud, Fay Spaniel and Peppy Hare were exploring(insert non-lava planet here). Just moments before crashlanding(and ultimately dying), these were the final words Fara said: "Team Star Fox......You've each given me a wonderful life. It's been an honor getting to work alongside all of you......Especially you Fox McCloud......
Eventually Fox falls back into love with Krystal when he and the others are investigating the Dinosaur Planet, Sauria. Fast forawrd to Star Fox Assault and they both develop feelings for one another. Fast forward again to Star Fox Command(not canon as far as I know, thank God!)......well, the rest is(sort of)history, I guess
Basically, the point of my theory here is: It was BECAUSE Fox loved Krystal that he kept suspending her from missions as of late. He'd already lost a love life once and was too afraid to risk letting it happen all over again. He did it to PROTECT her

Hopefully, Krystal ejected out of her Arwing; Fox was too far to see her eject. She might hanging by her parachute, snagged on some sturdy tree branches.

Okay I sent you a friend request. I'm going to show up as Aiden DeGraw with the soldier and the blue visors as my pic. I've been meaning to change that picture for a while, but I haven't had the chance. While it is cool (In my opinion) when I get the chance, I'm definitely changing my picture and background.
