Description oil and graphite on canvas
30"x40"

tonight i went out with my friends to the bars, and spent the whole night looking for an excuse to leave. i found my chance and left, without saying a word. i abandoned them, yet i was the one left alone.

this painting is based on an abandoned home near shiro, texas, usa.

this is the world we leave behind.

The form and the color are strong...plus the line quality...sculptural forms. Oil and graphite is a good idea. it's lovely. I'm glad I got to see this, makes me glad to be on dA.

huge - lifesize - in my big open white living room

or in a cold museum

geez - i hope this real canvas is huge - it deserves to be - it has LIFE to it with movement and harmony and color

I love how abstract your style is. I see two people standing in the far right, and two wome sitting and looking down. The two women who are sitting down are shaping a little cottage/house with their long hair.

I love the effect of graphite & oil; it's indicative of charcoal and gesso. Good color integration but it's the weave of graphite that's magic in this one. I particularly like the strokes and the selective placement of yellow. The top left looks like an orange sun setting through the lone rafters of yet another empty day.

Someone was happy in that old house, once.

For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper

-- T.S. Eliot (from The Hollow Men)
