Did you know that Blue Jays have a pouch at the front of their throat where they can store food? Kinda like a squirrel or a chipmunk. It looks like they are swallowing the peanuts or seeds whole, but really they are just storing them in their pouch (or crop), so they can take the food and hide it for later, or take it to their chicks.
