Description
The story behind this one- some unknown soul decided to pick this teapot up by it's handle while it was still greenware- a big no-no (hey I've done it to my own before). The handle broke into 4 pieces. Rather than tossing it I decided to try some commercial greenware cement which worked amazingly well. The only problem was glaze not sticking to the cement. Kintsugi is the Japanese method of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted with a precious metal- usually gold. So I laid gold leaf over the cemented joins- challenging to say the least, and now the pot is whole once again.
