If you're just modeling recreationally, I'd just reccomend pirating it. I believe the autodesk website offers 30-day free trials of all of their software, i.e. 3DSMAX and Maya.

ive tried the 30 day trial, but after i fill out the sheet it gives me a link that is 'broken' and there is a fatal error...
