This is a piece of Fan art I did for my favorite book, Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn.The name of the boy in the picture is Jack and the Dragon is named Draycos. You'll have to read the book to find out how the dragon is connected to Jack.

Yes, I know of the two characters, as I have read the first arc of author T. Zahn's series. It seems interesting as I have been very fond of such stories when I was youngster, of a young person, with a strange companion (i.e., alien 'pet') going on harrowing adventures.
I guess you could say it started with the old television series, Lassie, then with the reruns of the mid 1960s television series, Lost In Space, with Will Robinson and his friendship with ' B9 Robot' (brilliant design by Robert Kinoshita)
Then furthering this with my accidental discovery of Alan Dean Foster's, The Tar-Aiym Krang, that, too, involves a very young person and his unusual friendship with an alien.
Um....I had to get used to the idea of how Jack and Draycos are involved with each other. It's kind of a kick, that Foster's principal character, Flinx, and Zahn's Jack, are both, thieves.

I love these books!! I've been slamming my head up against a wall trying to draw them right! I got a good original jack going but dragons/animals in general are not my forte.

Yeah, It was good. Not one of my favorites, though. But it had a really interesting take on Dragons (or should I say Dragon-Like creatures). I heard there was a sequel-- do you know anything about that?

Actually there are six books in all. The second one is called Dragon and Soldier. Each book gives Jack a new occupation and a new cool ability with Draycos.
