Nothing like a romantic cruise around the world! Honestly, I've always wanted to draw Mickey and Minnie enjoying Disneyland. The vacation contest at the FAIC [link] was just an excuse to force myself to finally learn how to draw Mickey and Minnie. I find them strangely intimidating.

The sun has just begun to set over Frontierland and Minnie decides that after a long day of signing autograph books and posing for pictures, they deserve a cruise. Not that the two would ever complain about playing with their fans all day. Talk about having a vacation in your own front yard!

I used some old pictures my family took of Disneyland's "it's a small world" during the 50th as reference. Most of the time Disneyland's small world is a plain white and gold, however at night they light the foreground with pink and background with blue lights. Sunset is my favorite time to see it, the lights are on and the eastern sky is a deep blue. Sometimes you can catch an orange glow, but that's only on an exceptional day, if you have good timing and perhaps a little imagination. Maybe I'll post some pictures of the ride sometime.

Also I wanted to thank ~Wingedwynter for her advice. I probably wouldn't have bothered shading the background if you hadn't pointed it out. I'm lazy like that.

I hope everyone enjoys this picture despite "small world's" irritating reputation.

BTW: Drawing the ride itself turned out to be much more difficult than drawing Mik and Min. All those details took forever.
