well of course you can i find it faster to learn by studying how other professionals paint. find out what colors they use. but it'll take a while for you to be able to incorporate that into your own. I'm still learning. haha.
Just don't be afraid to go loose with your painting. you can watch youtube videos of FZD, a concept art school set up by Feng Tzu keep up the passion you have for it!
