Description This is my first time ever making crepes so I was a little worried if they would come out tasting and looking ok. Practice sure does make perfect as with most things. The first couple came out a little thick, the rest were better but a little untidy around the edges so that is yet another thing to go on my list to perfect.

I was also worried my family wouldn't like them. I need not have worried though as this breakfast in bed for my husband this morning went down very well. So well in fact my kids wanted second helpings! (they have never liked my husbands pancakes, again something i have never made so this was a lovely compliment!)

Anyway this is my variation of chocolate crepes whose recipe can be found on her blog [link] These are gluten free vanilla crepes with sliced bananas drizzled with maple syrup, wrapped then finished off with nutella. I highly recommend her recipe, especially if you are a beginner. This is the second recipe of her's I have tried, the first being nutella stuffed cookies [link] .

TIP: To make nutella a good drizzling consistency heat a few tablespoons in a pan over some boiling water, stirring constantly to losen it up.

How did I miss this post?! They look so tasty... hmm.. I want to make some crepes now! I think I'll do that sometime this weekend.

Also, I make savoury version of these crepes by removing the sugar and by adding fresh cut herbs in the batter (such as basil). Serve with veggies and cheese, yum! I think I just figured out what I'm making tomorrow night, for supper.

my family are real sweet tooth's they would not appreciate the savoury idea Anyway these made a real impression on the husband as the next day he made them himself! He rarely bakes but had a real craving for these, so that is a huge compliment!

Oh that is a compliment indeed!
As for the savory ones, I use them when I'm too lazy to make real supper, lol.

awolflikeyou [2012-11-18 19:16:47 +0000 UTC]

those look amazing. I'm usually not a banana fan but i want to eat those so bad atm

when I make crepes I stack them one on top of each other for a little while (flipping over the entire stack now and again)
It keeps them warm while you are cooking the rest of the batter and also makes them soft and supple for when you roll them...

just a thought

claremanson In reply to awolflikeyou [2012-11-19 06:06:29 +0000 UTC]

i put mine stacked up in a warm oven, works really well and that way you don;t have to worry about flipping them and them going cold while to cook and sort out the filling.

awolflikeyou In reply to claremanson [2012-11-19 16:28:19 +0000 UTC]

also such a good plan I find stacking them makes such a huge difference to the texture before I would just be piggy and eat them straight out the pan with the normal cinnnamon+sugar+lemon juice...

ahhhh, the joys of a solitary student with no need to cook for anyone else

Great with apples as well, in place of bananas. Best use for bananas is Chinese banana fritters, of course!
