...the dark side of the force.GAH I can't believe it took me so long to actually upload something! So much work-- at least I had a long weekend to do this
Anyway I've seen The Force Awakens twice since December and guess who my new favorite little grumpy teenager is~~~~
I'm one of those fans who is obsessed with Star Wars trivia, and Kylo's lightsaber is a pretty interesting read. That's his cracked kyber crystal if anyone doesn't know. I tried a different colouring style this time and I actually really like it? (it took so long though) and I'm pretty happy with the background for once.

I totally agree. I need a Leia who is troubled about accepting him after he killed his father, and Kylo has to deal with all the things in his past and their consequences. He's such an interesting, conflicted character, and I can't wait to see how his story goes.

Really, this is exactly what I want to see--and as you say, with Leia having trouble accepting him back even as part of her wants to. That will be the ultimate mark of maturity if Kylo can accept that without lashing out or throwing blame on others.

YES! This is why he's so interesting -- I don't think Star Wars canon has really had a character with so much turbulence, confusion, and such potential for change. And like you said, it's amazing how he'll potentially end up making Leia, one of the most level headed characters in the galaxy, torn apart as well.
At this point, I do love the other new characters we met in The Force Awakens, but the biggest reason for my excitement for episodes VIII and IX is to see what's in store for Kylo.

Anyway, I think Lucas was under the impression he was creating such a character with Anakin--but he really failed. Kylo though...I care. I am hugely excited and nervous all at once to see what happens.
I haven't really connected with Rey as much yet, though we'll see. It's not a dislike of her so much as not being drawn in by her the way I was by Kylo, or by Luke.

I totally agree; Anakin came off as a bit (understatement) too whiney. And the "conflicted with choosing the right side of the force" theme was never portrayed well-- he's annoying from the start, and is so easily taken by the dark side. I'm thankful that Lucas created this entire universe, but I'm frankly quite relieved that he isn't directing anymore. Abrams is doing amazing!
I did like Rey and the rest of the new trio, but I agree she isn't quite as interesting a character (yet) in my opinion. Thankfully we have two more movies to see what they do with her and Kylo! I really can't wait (2 years is such a long time to be standing on top of a mountain!)

It's Ep IX that scares me...unless we see something happen in VIII that turns the plot completely upside down, that movie is going to be life or death for Kylo. Four years until that is a LOOOOONG time.
