Description
The Rock was one of the last of the Chicago area commuter districts to switch to push-pull operation with bi-level cars with HEP and air conditioning. The NorthWestern switched in 1956. Here is a Rock Island commuter train in 1968 facing west at Joliet, waiting for a crew to turn the train for the trip back in.A detail shot of a few of the cars [link]

Nice shot. What type of engine is that? It looks like an RS-3, but I'm not entirely sure.
