Description
There was a time when the railroads ran their own passenger service, on time and with pride. The Burlington not only ran their own Zephyr fleet but they provided the Chicago connection for the Northern Pacific and Great Northern. So here in the summer of 1965 is the Empire Builder headed in to Chicago meeting a chartered train in Rochelle with a heavyweight obs on the back.Related content

my mistake, still at least I hadn't gotten the front or rear mixed up with a carriage.

I thought the Milwaukee Road handled the east end of the *Builder*. I guess it changed routes.

Nope... Milwaukee handled the East end of the City of Portland, etc.

I've heard stories about the capitol limited, the broadway limited, and what ever train the nyc ran, used to race each other on the tracks that parallel in hammond back in the 50's. i wish i could of seen that. you got some stuff that doesnt happen any more.
