Personality: Like any good selkie, she's very curious, especially when it comes to humans and their cultures. Due to specific events, unfortunately, she is extremely cautious around them (specifically human males). She guards her pelt when she isn't wearing it, practically with her life, and tends to cling to other selkies and faerie folk for companionship. Because she's in a land she didn't even know existed, she can come off as lost and confused. However, she has a lot of experience, both as a human and as a traveler. She can cook and clean like a normal person. She loves to tell people about the things she's seen (even if she doesn't always get it right). She likes land animals, but always gets their names mixed up. She gets super curious when it's an animal she didn't know existed before, and is naive to the danger this can pose. While she's had bad experiences with humans, her faith is still there. She's generally quite happy and excitable and likes to learn new things. She likes traveling through the landscape when she's feeling confident. She also has an attraction to fun colors, fun patterns, and jewelry.

History: Aurora was born in Alaska, in a small town (practically a village), where the mix of Natives and non Natives lived peacefully with the faerie folk of the area. Selkie children played with human children, were taught side by side with them, and even helped around in the town. She herself was very playful and liked to entertain the humans with her silly seal antics.

Because the environment was so calm and friendly, she grew to be extremely naive and trusting of humans. However, when she was 17, a lone adventurer came to the village, intending on getting some rest. One night, before he was to leave, he stumbled on Aurora shedding her skin and going for a quick dip. He became enamored with her, and then quickly snatched her skin while she wasn't looking.

Seeing the man with her skin did not set off alarm bells immediately. First she rationalized that maybe he was trying to be playful, and attempted to snatch her skin back, but he looked serious. Once the seriousness of the situation set in, she pleaded and begged and fought for it back, but he easily overpowered her. He threatened to burn it if she didn't comply. She had no choice.

So they left the town that night wordlessly and Aurora became the adventurer's "wife".

For the next couple of years, she traveled along side him. He helped perfect her English speaking skills, taught her how to cook and clean, and bought her nice dresses and jewelry from all over the world. They went to many places, from Russia to China, South Africa to Australia, South America to Britain. And for the most part, he was nice to her. But she was still a little more than an object to him. She never went anywhere without him, and was not allowed to talk to people for too long (lest she raise suspicion). She mostly cooked and cleaned for him, and well, acted like a little housewife. So long as he had that skin, she had no choice but to do what he said. She was totally dependent on him and she hated it.

She missed the sea, and searched everywhere for her pelt, but every time she got even remotely close to it, he'd hide it in a new spot. She relished the traveling and the nice things but it could never heal the gaping hole in her heart.

Their last stop together was in Ireland, where he intended on learning more about the Celtic culture. By this time, he was so comfortable with her being around, he was beginning to get lazy with hiding the pelt, believing that she had given up by now.

Well she hadn't. And one day while he was out, she found it.

In the heat of the moment, she grabbed it, as well as some of the things he had gotten her, and made a break for it. She considered writing him a note but decided against it.

She ran to the nearest beach, to the nearest cove, and took her seal form for the first time in about 9 years. She was extremely happy to be reunited with the sea again

Then it dawned on her: she had NO idea where she was. She knew that it was Ireland but...Ireland was no where near Alaska. She was back with the sea but now what?

Thankfully, a couple of concerned selkies approached her. Never had they seen a seal like her before.
She told them everything, suddenly saddened by the fact that she would never be reunited with her family. Sympathetic to her cause, they suggested she'd get a fresh start, and they offered to help her adjust.

Ireland is obviously not Alaska, but with a little help, she became more in tune with the Irish waters. A couple of them led her to Toradh, believing that the sizable population of faerie folk would make her feel more comfortable. She expresses extreme caution when in her seal form, since Ribbon Seals are no where near native to Ireland. She hangs around in the coves with the other selkies but has grown more confident in her human form to venture out every once in awhile, when she's confident that her pelt is safely hidden.
