Description
The Volkswagen Microbus has proved to be one of the most adaptable and versatile vehicles ever made.Introduced in the 50s it appeared in various forms for three decades.
As well as the standard bus/camper, there were single-cab vans, crew cabs, police vehicles and ambulances.
This example is a Volkswagen 15 window Deluxe Microbus 1958 in Beige Grey over Sealing Wax Red.

Nice one - Glad I could help (knowing visual differences of aircooled VW's does come in handy occasionally
)
11 window is the same, except it doesn't have the rear 2 windows, or the silver 'deluxe' trim (the silver bit along the swage line, and between the 2 wheel arches). Will look great on a T-shirt I reckon!
As an aside, the split screen microbus was made between 1949 and 1967 - Originally without the overhanging peak above the front windscreens (among other things), and came as a panel van, single cab pick up truck, 11 window (standard microbus/kombi), and 23 window deluxe. Then the peak was introduced, and the engine lid changed to a smaller one, and came in the same formats, then came the bullet indicators to replace semaphores, and came in panel van, single cab, double cab, 11 window, 15 window and 23 window formats, then the late splits with big indicators came, and were in all the same commercial variants, 11 window, 13 window, and 21 window. So, if you wanted, there'd be plenty of variation to be had, from the basic outline you've done

That is a mountain of information!
I should change the name to 'Microbus 13' for this one then?

Gah! I think it should be 13 - as it is late model with big indicators!

Haha, you're learning dude! This is a 15 window, because it has (behind the front doors) 5 windows. A 13 window has 4 windows behind the front foors (visible anyway), an 11 window has 3 windows behind the front doors. They're generally called 15 window deluxe, or 15 window microbus, as opposed to microbus 15

Ah good - I think I have absorbed some wisdom from you now...
I wish I knew what to put on the t-shirt design though...

That looks really good now dude! But, for it to be correct, its now earlier than 1963 (due to the 'bullet' indicators), which means the air vents should be the protruding type like I think they were originally, and the tail lights should be small, instead of the big ones that are currently on it Looks really good though, from a non-pedantic point of view
Suspension looks good now! Heres the photo I took of mine anyway

Your colour scheme looks REALLY nice - Looks a bit like this colour scheme (which only came on 11 window buses, as far as I'm aware ):

Thanks for that.
I have changed the indicators back to 'large' and finally fixed the vents which were upside down, also added exhaust pipe.
I'm not so worried about the colour, as I will be making a variety of t-shirts, just as long as the basics are right, then I'm happy.
Is the 11 window the same as this one, but with fewer windows? or are there more differences?...

Ahh, finally found a cross over year 23 window (modded though, so, wrong wheels, colours, suspension height.

Basically, that little floating circle in front of the back wheel - It is part of the rear suspension/gearbox setup, or something.
Heres a nice profile view of my van:
[link]
^You can see the positioning of the indicator is different to that in your drawing - it should be below the deluxe trim (the silver strip with the black bit in the middle). Also, notice how the steering box sticks out below the bumper (the dark object below the front door, under the bumper)
I'll go get a photo of the bit I meant that looks wrong, rear suspension wise.

Ah, I have changed the indicator instead of just moving it. I will take another shot at that - should it be orange?
I will add the steering box - didn't see that at all.
The suspension is fixed (I think) I followed a drawing I found just now.

^Cross over year 15 window - (same model that you did, but without windows in the roof), which I beleive is a 63.
This is a 64-67 deluxe, without the windows in the roof:
[link] - notice it doesn't have the corner windows.

1967 VW Mictobus would be 21 window, not 23 window, the air vents for the engine wouldn't be the raised vents shown here, the steel wheels are wrong, mirrors are the early style in this piece of art (1967 is the last year Split Screen Microbuses were made)and the sun roof doesn't look like cloth type stuff Other than that, and the rear suspension, and the positioning of the indicators, it looks goooood
(door handles look early too
) - At a guess, I'd say this is closer to a 1963 microbus than a 1967. Just trying to give constructive criticism - because it looks like you've drawn a cross over model year (1963 iirc), with the big (late) front indicators, but with the corner windows, air vents, and door handles of an early. I love the shading though, its brilliant!

Thanks for the input - there's a lot I don't know about these, and it looks like my reference line drawing was wrong too...
Never mind, I will make it a 1963 version and fix it according to what you have said.
And thanks
