Someone in my town actually makes reproductions of these! I think I could get one for $600-$700.

Touch of Sharpe there.
Very nice rendition. Makes reading the novels a lot easier to visualise. 3-5 rounds a minute must have been hard work.

not replace the musket, the Baker was only issued to the Rifle battalions of the British army, like the 5th/60th Royal Americans, or the 95th Regiment. The 'Brown Bess' continued to serve until it was replaced in 1851 by the P1851 MiniΓ© Rifled Musket.

Sorry, I just wanted to say that the 'Baker' rifle wasn't the first rifled gun issued to British troops. Both the P1776 and Ferguson breech-loading rifle were issued to the troops in the American Revolution War, thirty years before the Penninsula. The Baker rifle also did

The Baker Rifle nominally remained a limited issue weapon, and the Brown Bess was still in great use until the advent of percussion cap weapons.

I had a base colour as a 'background' then added 3 more layers of slightly different colours and various shapes, all at 25% opacity so they blended in, and then a top layer with the little dashed lines - all drawn individually - yes I am that crazy!

archizero In reply to Claveworks [2007-07-14 21:01:04 +0000 UTC]
Same techniques for my drawings. I was afraid your answer would be that - draw individually... i hoped there was a faster way... thank you very much for the tip; i admire greatly your technique.

Claveworks In reply to archizero [2007-07-14 22:00:34 +0000 UTC]
No problem - There is a faster way in Photoshop, I think... you could use a large brush on 'dissolve' and click to make a load of dots, then use 'motion blur' to stretch them into lines...

Yes, but i'm using corel. Not very confortable with vectors and photoshop. Drawing them "by hand" has an advantage - one can give it a more random look, simulating the natural texture.
