Commission for Based on this! And man was this a doozy. Oh, no modeling Octavia herself was easy, and the cello wasn't exactly hard either. The problem was getting her to hold it. If you've never seen a cello from the side, the strings stick out from the main body, so any pose that put it on her shoulder would shove the strings clean through the middle of her face. I finally decided to go with bracing it against her forearm.Related content

That pony is probably seconds away from falling over, considering that most of the weight is centered behind the legs rather than over them.

Haha, I know right. I had many a rant about the impossibility of cello shouldering while I was working on her. At least the printed figure will have a three-point support and the cello will weigh nothing compared to her.

You're working from another person's drawing, right? I get the feeling they aren't a musician given how they've chosen to pose their character. Cellos are pretty heavy. That and, while I'm not entirely familiar with cello etiquette, the strings of something like a violin are meant to face away from the body when holding the instrument at your side. Flipping the cello might make it easier to pose your model a bit closer to the original drawing's position, since you wouldn't have to worry about the strings going through the character's face like you said.
