Description
Original image: [link]So I made a new layout for my lj. I wanted to use the linked image in the background to fill in the empty space, but the crappy jpg was all I could find. ...Which means I had to fix it up myself. Which means I had to re-learn how to vector.
So yeah. The past 17 hours of my life have been spent on... this.
Crona came out beautiful. Ragnarok... not so much. Damn it, Ragnarok, dhfjhsdljkj fdkljhl. It was coming out perfectly before I started shading that sword, too.
I seriously need to find a tutorial on coloring/shading metal or something.
Well, at least the line art is nice. And that's all I really need for the layout, so... not a huge loss. Just, ya know... 17 hours of my life. dskjhfljk; I will never get over that.
...I have all the fail-shading in a group-folder in the layers in Photoshop. So I'll probably go back and re-do it all eventually. x_x

Clawprint I apologize for "spamming" the comments so much and with basically the same information. It's just when I know I have answers I can't simply hold back and let others be in the dark about things. Especially with this topic since it's one I am extremely dedicated too. I hope you've read what I've posted and continue to spread the informatin as well.
Besides that, I was wondering if I may have the permission to use the vector for something. I'll credit you if I figure out how (don't worry, I think I know how).

Ooo! ooo! I would like to assist the Crona gender "debate"!
Crona , for open public use, is neither yet all genders. He becomes a he, she, they, neither when the individual picks it for him.
In The Japanese anime and Manga Crona uses gender neutral terms for himself, but would sometimes also use the term "Boku" which is the masculine form of "I" ( in the past I've gotten this confused with the feminine form of "I" but I was mistaken and corrected.)
Fans speculate that Crona doesn't have/know/is confused about his gender because of the tasks Medusa had put him through, leading fans to saying we won't ever get his real gender. ( <-- which sounds like bull personally to me. Because just that tells me he's confused about his identity but is most likely biologically a boy since his form of "I" is masculine. Or he's biologically a girl but is leaning more towards identifying himself as a male.)
In the dub/sub official Crona is given the official gender of male. But fans say it is like that because there is no neutral gender identification in English ( Which is true, there isn't. ). ( Note: I would also like to add that in the 6 years of me looking for gender answers for Crona I have NEVER stumbled upon ANY OFFICIAL STATEMENTS MADE BY ATSHUSHI HIMSELF SAYING CRONA IS NEITHER GENDERS, nor have I found anything official saying he was a boy, girl, or both. All I have found is rumors. Including the false statement that Atsushi made a comment saying something like " I don't even know what Crona's gender is". I looked it up, all the sources I found said that comment wasn't proven to be official.)
The statement that "Crona was male in the anime and female in the manga" is a false statement. My copies of the manga, which I bought at a local Barnes & Noble was printed using he/his/him pronouns for Crona.
Among some of those reasons ^^ there's a lot of fan reasoning that makes Crona being a boy make more sense. And these theories and reasons seem to outnumber/make more sense than the theories to why he may be a she, genderfluid, neither genders and a "genderless potato".
Such as how Ragnarok is male and part of Crona's body. Since you could turn any weapon into black blood it would make sense that Medusa would want to pick a weapon that was the same gender as the child. The results of mixing two gender's into one with two separate personalities may cause to big of a chemical difference within Crona's body and that wouldn't help Medusa's cause at all- in fact it would most more likely hurt her cause.
Then there's the fact of how extremely flat Crona is, even the most starved and malnourished females have ( for lack of better words.... ---> ) "mounds" of some degree. Even in young children before puberty it is easy to observe that they ( for lack of better words.... ---->) have boobs. ( <---- and I mean that in a non-perverted way. It's an observation which happens to be true.)
Then there's just a lot of other complicated body things that have to due with gender and average finger length, height, position of how high the hips are, etc. Which is really just too complicated to get into right now without writing a full on report for you all. ( Which I've kinda already did >~// sorry! ) It's also quite boring too, and you're probably bored already by this.
But. Main point is.
Ohkubo doesn't care.
And as long as he doesn't care, and as long as he withholds his true personal feelings about Crona's gender.. well then, I guess it's a free for all. This connects us back to my first sentence, "Crona, for open public use, is neither yet all genders."- So. Completely gender fluid when speaking of him without a preference.- " He becomes a he, she, they, neither when the individual picks it for him". Which basically means.... Despite how much evidence there is pointing to an answer.... Despite how much more evidence of him being male.... or how much you think he's a girl... or none ... or both... what you personally pick is correct.
You think Crona's a girl for some reason? You're correct.
You've observed the evidence that Crona's a guy? You're correct.
You see a equal amount of evidence for both genders so he must be both genders? You're correct.
There's not enough evidence for either so he most be neither? You're correct.
You see evidence that he's a boy but you think he must be identifying as a girl? You're correct.
You think Crona's a girl but identifying as a boy? You're correct.
This can go the same with sexuality. Mostly because what anyone wants Crona's gender to be is technically correct, whatever sexuality - by extension - that you pick is also correct.
I hope this helped.

Well actually, that confirmed nothing. Astushi still claims that he will not reveal the gender ( if Crona even has one ) and that fact doesn't even prove anything. Anyone: Male, Female, Genderfluid and non-identified alike can cover themselves up when they're naked. Haha. Given Crona's personality he would cover himself up regardless of being alone or not in the first place.. and regardless of what gender he may be. His gender is still unofficial even after that chapter had been long released, which again shows that it proved nothing.
Since you'll probably like more information I'll copy and paste what I've been adding to other comments for you to read, I'm so sorry how long it is. But it was the shortest I can make it while making sure to capture all the important information.

Yeah, it took some practice. Thus the 17 hours of work. ;A;
LMAO. I have a lot of reasons! (/referring the Crona as a "he" now, just to make things easier.) I agree, his face and the fact that he has no boobs. Haha, his face-- I think he's cute as a boy, but would make one ugly chick. And his voice-- even if he has a female VA, she went out of her way to sound like a boy.
He refers to himself with "boku," a pronoun generally used by boys.
He looks like a boy in men's clothes. Speaking of which, he dressed up in men's clothes to go to a party where every single other girl was in a dress...
I'll admit, the boobs and "boku" thing aren't very good reasons. I know quite a few flat chested girls, and many girls in japan are starting to use "boku" to refer to themselves too.
His mother's a witch, but it's stated that Crona is not. When Medusa's leaving the witch meeting towards the beginning, she states she's not the only one with non-witch companions. Meaning Crona's not a witch, but I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't be, other than he's male, since all the witches in SE seem to be female. :\
But yeah... I just can't see him as a chick. LMFAO I'm sorry for talking you to death. xD Clearly I've just put way, WAY too much thought into this.

I dont mind long comments! =3 I dont get the boob thing either but kinda get the boku reason. The only girls Ive seen say that are confident and a tomboy, and he isnt erally any of those! I dont get the whole he's a girl because of the dress thing -_- He could've just said, "I dont know how to deal with clothes shopping," and Medusa could've put him in a dress...Yeah, the voice actor went out of her way to make Crona sound like a guy! Plus, Crona makes a good looking guy and a really ugly girl...Some people think he's a boy in the anime and a girl in the manga O_O It's weird...sry for talking so much!

Haha, I don't mind, either, it's just weird to see actual conversation on DA. xD
I never thought of the dress thing like that before! I just assumed Medusa stuck him in a dress to drain his confidence or something. But him "not being able to deal with it" could be very likely, too.
I can see why they think that way. Anime Crona and Manga Crona are pretty different from one another. And the latest chapter in the manga showed him naked. And he looked like a girl. Not that it actually showed anything, but... yeah. PFFT. Not that it matters, I've met guys with similar body shapes. LMFAO

Someone brought up a weird point yesterday...Medusa's a witch, so hse'd want a dughter,if Crona was a boy, she put the black blood in him to control him/make him stronger, blah blah blah....why go through that much if Crona was a girl and a witch? >< I found that reason at 5 in the morning!

To first reply specifically to you both talking about Crona's clothing style, I'll like to give you this information: Medusa's generation, historically, would have dressed up their children in dresses (usually white) no matter what gender they where. More commonly from ages "newborn" to 5 children would only wear a white nightgown like dress. This tradition was actually normal until the early 1900s. So Crona being dressed in a dress isn't weird at all, it is completely normal. And since he wasn't that used to knew things I could understand him continuing to wear the same styled clothing as he did in his youth.
Okay. Now to give you the rest of the information. I promise it will be helpful and it will answer a LOT of your questions.
Granted, I have more information, but I basically only put what was necessary. This comment is already extremely long, and I apologize for that. Id you'd like more information just message me. I've been looking this up for 6 years, constantly trying to find the correct answers. Crona's my favorite character out of all of the anime and other sources of entertainment I've seen. I would never lie about this information, and I would also love to recieve more information (plus sources) if you have any.

I'm just going to go ahead and copy paste my responses from all the other messages. I have more info that I've gathered over the years if you'd like to know more.
Ooo!
