You did such a superb job on this. I am proud of you like you are my own daughter.
As a drunk who used to sculpt with sculpey, I would like to give you some technical tips.
The armature, you can reinforce the aluminum rod armature with epoxy putty, such as milluput, Apoxie or something equivalent. Many of them are heat resistant so you can put them in oven just fine. Also you can sculpt tiny detailed parts that are not suited for sculpey with it.
For quickly curing sculpey, I had used a heat gun. You know like a hair dryer but with a lot more power and heat? You can bake parts of sculpy with that. but you have to be careful to keep moving the nozzle as it likes to burn the surface.
You can add sculpey to a cured/baked sculpey by applying small amount petroleum jelly (likes of vaseline) on a cured surface. As long as you don't trap air between them, they will stick just fine and come out fine from the oven.
I am not fond of sculpey. They are pretty toxic and wasteful in my opinion and I hope you move on to some other materials someday.
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much, you really made me smile!
And I really appreciate your advice, I will definitely use your tips! I actually intended to learn something from more experienced artists as I made myself an account on DA!
To be all honest I don't really like using sculpey, too. I once tried curing it with a heat gun.. I ended up sitting with a gasmask in my room because I'm really worried about that vapors.. My parents faces as they saw me wearing a full mask were worth it.
I have tried several other clays (different paper clays, stone ware clays, porcellain clays and apoxie) but none of them has the same awesome sculpting qualities as sculpey and I don't like sculpting big and complex things with them. I have heard of Monster clay, wax and chavant clay and they seen to be quite good, but it says that they never cure completely hard.. I really want to paint my sculptures and make them last for a bit longer so I have no idea which clay to use, besides sculpey. Do you have any advice on that? I know that you can always make molds and cast the sculpture but that seems quite annoying.. Maybe I'm just to lazy to try out new stuff. :/

I like making people laugh. Especially little kids and good looking ladies.
No problem. Not sure you like using them tips but doesn't hurt to have the knowledge. There are many skilled and experienced artist/craft-person here. If you are nice to them they might answer your questions. But I have seen many members who would not answer to anything. They are mostly well-known artists in the field I noticed.
You could cure the sculpey outside with a heat gun if your studio doesn't have good air ventilation/ circulation. I bet you can cure big sculpey sculpture if you placed it in a glass house outside in Summer time. I have half way cured a box of sculpey because I left it on the dash of my car in a hot Summer day once....
Yeah I know what you mean. I use wax because it is faster for me than other material and I don't have to bake it. I have never used Monster clay but I have a sample packet here. I can already tell it is not for me. It is too soft. It is developed for special effect make-ups so not really for small detailed sculptures. Was not fan of Chavant, but I have met many sculptures who love the crap out of that thing. I guess it is kinda same with Monster clay. Yes you are right. All those clay can not be final work; need to be transferred to resin or some other materials. Apoxie sculpt can be the final work but they are expensive and I am not really fan of it. I used Tamiya Epoxy putty for military figure conversion back in the day. I hated the down time waiting for the putty to be cured or hard enough to be worked on.
Well, if you want to make OOAK sculpt and paint. I would stick to sculpey or Apoxie. Maybe ceramics.... But if you want to make copies of them and sell, wax is the way to go. I use castilene. Also you can always hire someone to do the mold/casting part. I hated that part when I worked at a factory so I outsource it all the time. Hope that helps.

Good attitude, need some people like you in germany.
There are many great people on here, I always enjoy exchanging experience. I nevert ask questions like that directly, I start with a little talk to get known to them. Best way to avoid asking the wrong people I guess. I like to believe that they are extremely busy and get more comments than they can answer..
"Studio" sounds nice.. I will try getting one after I moved out, I'm currently working in my tiny room, but it doesthe job for now. Curing sculpey in your car is actually quite cool, but I guess it was not on purpose! Don't know if it will get hot enough where I live so I can give it a try..
Most of that stuff seems to be good for big sculptures, I haven't seen many small sculptures with monster or chavant, probably not the right stuff for me.
I already suspected that..guess I will stick to sculpey and apoxie for now. Ceramics seem to break really fast. I definitely want to try casting in resin some day, maybe I'll start working with wax if that goes fine. You really helped me, thank you very much!

I am sure there are many helpful people in Germany. I got a lot of help from a lady in Germany to get into BJD sculpting. I could not have done it without her. Yeah crazies are everywhere.
It is possible that they are too busy, but if they are so busy, I wonder how they find time to post their work here. When I got one of my work picked for daily deviation, got a lot of comments. I answered every one of them and took me over 4 month. I thought that would be selfish and egoistic to just post work here in order to receive praise and compliment and do not have courtesy to say thank you.
Well my childhood bedroom was also my plastic model kit building, painting and sculpting studio. I got high on model paints often...
Yeah you can bake sculpey in a car. I was gonna tell you. You can also bake sculpey in boiling water( no chance of burning) It is better to bake the sculpey in low temperature for longer time than what it says on the instruction. I usually bake them in 94-95C for an hour for regular 1/6 scale figure with aluminum armature inside.
You want some sample of wax? I will send you some. If you promise to really try it.

Guess you're right they are just hard to spot. For some reasons germans really like dolls and puppets..Do you know the "Augsburger Puppenkiste"? They scared me to death as a child.
Hats off for answering all that comments, I don't know how long it would take me to do that. A little "thank you" is really the minimum you should give, lets scratch that "poor-busy-well-known-artist" stuff.
How the hell did you got high from that stuff?? Never tried with mine.Should I?
Using boiling water sounds interesting! I will try baking my sculptures like that next time, used to bake them about 20-30 minutes..whoops.
That would be super awesome, I will definitely try it, promised!! Its so nice of you to offer me that, I would hug you if I could.Probably won't be able to sleep tonight, I'm too excited. Would pay you for sending me some!

There are a few German ladies I used to talk to quite bit. They are all pretty decent except one. No I do not know "Augsburger Puppenkiste", but quick google image search tells me it is a puppet show. They do not scare me as much as antique dolls, but I can see that they can be creepy.
Yeah I know, I even thanked all of whom faved the piece. It was over 1300. Yeah those well-known-artists are here to get wooed by many. Tons of ego. You will meet too many of them if you hang around in a commercial sculpting field. Some of them wanted to be treated like a rock star in garage kit/ action figure convention and such.
Well, back in the days, some of us used lacquer paints for model kits. They dry faster than enamel so it was ideal for weathering. You can get high from lacquer paints and thinner. You will not get high from acrylic paints. DO not get high from paints. It will kill brain cells. Stick with booze. Booze does appropriate job.
You know, I am sure that there is a distributor in Germany. It might be cheaper and faster to get it from them. If you can find a store in your country and they take paypal, I will but some for you and have them ship it to your address. Or I can always send some from here along with alcohol torch lamp. You will need at least an alcohol torch lamp to work with wax. And microwave.
Let me know how you want to go about this. Either way, you will need to give me your address. Note me your address when you get a chance, K?

Haha, I hope that "one" ain't me!
Augsburger puppenkiste has the most ugliest dolls ever created. Horrible. I would not recommend you to watch the movie "Annabelle" by the way.
You are a good guy for doing so. Others could learn a lesson from you. Those sculptors are flying way too high. I hope I won't meet to many...
Well it's not like I don't have some thinner around here...But I'll follow your advice and take some Tequila instead. Or maybe Whiskey, not sure. No beer(makes me puke). I just hope you didn't loose too many brain cells from getting high back then.Hehe.
It would be awesome if you would send me some together with that alcohol torch( never heared of that before..),I'll send you my adress! Please only do that if it that won't give you lots of trouble. I would have a very bad conscience then!
Once again, thank you so much for offering that, you are an absolutely AWESOME guy!!

No it is not you. She is an older lady.
"Annabelle"is hideous looking. Trying too hard to be scary to me so would not really trigger the phobia. I still would not spend my money or time to see it though. There are enough real life haunted dolls existed. I am from the prefecture where OKiku the doll is around. monstropedia.org/index.php?tit…
Oh you will meet enough dicks. Almost all of well-known commercial sculptors are dicks. I have been called dick as well. I am just trying to be better version of myself. You know Michelangelo was a huge dick, right?
I am an avid beer drinker. Used to brew beer with friends. But I drink anything that contains alcohol as long as it is not ridiculously sweet drinks. Sweet drinks give me headache. I am a bourbon whiskey man.
I will get to it. But I remember takes like a month to get to Germany and go through customs. I have no idea why. I can send the same thing to UK and it will get there in 10 days. So don't expect it will be there soon.
You are welcome. I don't mind helping young skilled sculptor like yourself. You also have a good attitude and not full of yourself like many youngsters I met.

Annabelle is based on a real haunted doll,too...but it looks way differnet in person, not half as disgusting.
I thought that okiku doll looked quite cute at first...but that growing hair is just disgusting and scary as hell. Did you ever visit it (probably not..) ?
I don't know what you were called a dick for, but you seem like a nice guy to me, so it's fine. Cats and motorbikes settle this for me.
I scrolled through michelangelos wikipedia article but didn't find any stories about rape or killing animals..what did he do?
Brewing alcohol yourself is quite cool! We still have some old mead in the basement...I love sweet stuff as long as it's pure, not mixed with soft drinks. I tried to convince my dad to get bourbon whiskey, he wants to stay with single malt...hmm.
Oh yeah, I've already noticed that.. maybe because of the customs, if I'm unlucky they will open and check the package..and they won't bother to send it up, so I'll have to get there and pick it up, idiots. I'll wait patiently and tell you when it arrives. please don't stress yourself!
Thank you again, you definitely helped me with some stuff. It's really nice to hear that from someone way more experienced, and you seem to have a good attitude yourself.

I actually read about the real Annabelle doll. It is a rag doll and locked up in a museum/church of some sort. There is also a doll named Robert who has the same reputation. No I have never had the interest to visit the Okiku doll.
Well, when I did not like or approved someone, I used to let them know. I did not like inconsiderate, lazy people, so I treated them as parasites. I also have problem letting go of some stuff. Once I figure out the person is worthless, I will not register them at all; they do not exist in my world.
Michelangelo was not evil; he did not rape or kill. He was a dick to Leonard Da Vinci. And well-known for having a short fuse. He painted his boss as an evil entity in Sistine chapel. Also heard he never took off his boots. Serious hygiene problem there.
I have had mead. Those are nice on hot Summer days. Bourbon is probably rough for a person frequent single malt.
I have sold a few items to customers in Germany. I am always amazed that going though custom takes crazy long time there. Also many of Customers asked me to mark down the claimed value so that they don't have to pay tax on it. I am sure you will have to pick it up or witness the custom official opening the box. I am putting some old broken sculpts in there. just melt them and use it for your own. Okay?

I want to go there and touch one of them... I wonder if there is really something strange about them.
I actually admire people Who can just tell others things like that, I'm really bad at this.. I can barely tell people I know a bit better if something about them pisses me off. I'm usually very friendly and forgiving, but handling things like you do would have already saved me lots of nerves. I should really learn to do that.
Michelangelo seems like a strong character, but definitily crazy and probably an asshole. Maybe He had a good Sense of humor for drawing his Boss like that.
I miss hot Summer days.I saw an ad for bourbon and it made it look awesome, so I still wanna try it..
I don't know why, but German custom seems to be very skeptical. Like everyone would send drugs with their package, they really open anything. It's quite annoying if you have to pick things up, the custom Stations are always build in places that you can barely reach with public transport. Maybe I'm lucky, but It's not that bad.
That's totally fine (and more interesting than New wax)!

Haha They do not let you touch them. Some of those haunted dolls are not even available for general public to see. For some stupids, they are compelled to challenge the dolls, dare them dolls to put curse on them. I hear some cases, the dolls are highly successful; they are keep getting letters of apologies from those visitors.
Oh you will learn to do that some point. Besides, they are not psychic; they will not know what they did to make you upset. You have to tell them. Of course there are blunt way and nice way to do that. I have to warn you, though, some people can not take any kinds of criticisms at all. If you end up living with roommates or a significant other, that kind of talks need to happen in order to have mental health in the house. It is also called "communication" in relationships.
Michelangelo was a crazy good sculptor so I guess he can get away with some of attitude. You can tell he was not into sculpting female forms. Many of his female statues were anatomically pretty off.
With this climate change, all we are gonna have might be hot Summer days. We did not really have Winter here. I hardly wore my winter clothes and I have to pack them away for Summer now... I would send you a tiny bottle of bourbon, but it will likely to be confiscated t the custom. Alcohol is a type of drug after all....

Maybe it's better that way..I wouldn't do something stupid like those people, but I might just be too curious( Curiosity kills the cat..haha.). There are some really creepy stories about those dolls getting theire revenge, I don't wanna visit them anymore.
The problem is that some people don't understand the nice way..and if you get serious they are angry/ hurt. I don't have these problems with close friends, luckily.
Well, I know what "communication" is. I hope that was a joke, sometimes I don't get them..
That's actually quite funny, some of those womans look strange for some reason...but I can't tell exactly what's wrong with them.
We had the same crazy winter here, it snowed about 3 times...I really miss those mornings when you wake up and everything is covered with snow, that was awesome in southern germany.
I didn't really used my winter stuff, too, I think I never had to wear gloves.
The package already arrived! I was really surprised, I expected it to be here next month and I didn't had to pick it up from custom station. There was a green stamp on there saying that the german airport freed it from custom control, awesome!
Thank you so much for sending me so much of that wax, I already started a sculpture ( cat lady with a streetfighter bike) and it's really fun to try out a new material. It's definitely a challenge, working with sculpey is quite different and I find sculpting with wax way more difficult(or maybe I do something wrong, I'll find out). I get used to this stuff and how to smooth the texture or how to build up anatomy, I'll upload something here as soon as I finished it. And also thanks for sending me a new alcohol torch, I'll get alcohol next week, I'll use a candle and heatgun for now. Melting it in the microwave was a nice experience. 800W is way too much, I was quite surprised of that wax soup...
And how f#cking cool is that shirt(and those stickers, they are pretty funny)? I didn't even knew you had your own shirts, they are awesome, thank you so much for sending me one! you'll definitely get a picture, I'll try to get one with my cats soon, they really like it(it's covered with white hairs). They also spend hours sniffing around the wax, Tibbs left some of his hairs on there.I'll wear that shirt for riding, I hope I'll be able to send you a picture with that shirt,my cats and a bike some day.
You are the best guy I met here, I don't really know how to say thank you(thought about building a big shrine in my garden, you'd be something like a motorbike/cat/sculpting god). I still feel really bad for not giving anything as reward. I just hope you know that you are fucking awesome! Thanks!!!

You know they say dolls make great shell for spirit or some kind of entity. There are countless cases of haunted dolls. You might have seen one without noticing.
Yeah I know. I have been there. As I get older, I got tired of dealing with people in general. There are a many occasions that people walk all over me because I avoided conflicts. I enjoy hanging with cats over people...
Michelangelo's women look just like men with female breast slapped on. It is said he was gay and I assume he had no passion on studying female anatomy. Or a crazy misogynist...
Well I hope this Summer is not that crazy hot this year. And I really miss colder Winter. Sadly the study says we are having hotter year every year...
I am surprised to know the package already got there. The fastest package delivery to Germany ever to dated for me. I am glad the package made you happy!! Haha you are more than welcome, young lady. I love to help out new generation of sculptors. Especially the ones who are intelligent, compassionate to nature, and into cats and motorcycle.
Once you get used to working with Castilene or any other wax, you will have hard time going back to sculpey. I felt the same way when I started to use wax. Now I am so anti-sculpey. I have no desire to use the thing anymore. There are a few tutorials on youtube regarding sculpting with wax or I can give you tips if you have any questions. All you have to do is ask.
I use heated sanding pad or sand paper to push wax. It helps you smooth out the surface.
I hope you read my warning on alcohol lamp. Do not use candles to heat the wax or your tools. Yeah you don't want to heat up the wax too much. You get burn from it. One time I had those wax soup in my hand and accidentally dumped on my crotch while I was transferring the bowl from the microwave to my desk. It was a very painful and sad day.
You did not know I had shirt made? Haha. Yeah I would like a picture of you wearing it. That can be counted as my reward? I might post it at my facebook page if you are okay with it. Yeah, I know....my wax got a lot of cat fur in it.....
Thanks for the compliment, but hopefully you will meet more good helpful people here.
Again you are more than welcome, so no need to build a shrine neither you should feel bad about it. I will be looking forward to seeing your first sculpt with castilene.

Well then I wonder if plushies are shells for spirits, too.
You scare me a little bit right now, thanks.
Cats are definitely good beasts to hang out with, I usually share their attitude. It's either cats or best friends, or maybe motorbikes. I think I might get into a relationship with my bike, I'm thinking about giving it a name.Do your bikes have names?
Funny story, I should tell it my arts teacher, she'll kill me!
I actually like hot summers..I just hate when you have mild winters and hot summers. Maybe move to Canada if its getting too bad.
It really did, it was a cool surprise! I hope there are more sculptors in my generation, haven't met a single one. Bikes, cats and nature is a pretty good summary of myself, good job haha.
By the way, if you call me young lady, any idea how I could call you? I don't want to go for old geezer.( Sorry.)
Maybe just sir.
I already suspected it to be this way, I really want to get some experience with wax, I'd love to use it instead of sculpey. I checked out some videos, but there is one thing I still don' t understand. I heat up wax in the microwave once, but it seems to cool down and get cracks quite fast. So I can only build rough forms very fast, but there seems to be no way of getting these forms completely soft again. A heat gun or flame only heats up the first layer until its liquid. How do you "correct" general forms on cool wax? Thanks for offering your help!
Yeah I read it after I completely messed up a wheel for a bike. Still, thanks for the warning you kept me from continuing with that..
I got alcohol for the torch and I really need to get comfortable with using the totch at first. I did not expected such a strong flame..I'll outisde until I get used to it, I feel too unsafe using it in my room right now, it won't take long until I feel safe. Only problem is that I have to wait until it stops raining before I can continue...I hope I can show you something soon.
It wouldn't have been a sad day if I would've been there to giggle at you spilling the wax, but still painful.
I'll take several pictures( Already have some, want to take some more and try to get both cats on it) and send them to you, you can choose one for facebook, I'm totally fine with that! I added some more white hairs to the wax.
I have already met some, but it might take some time before someone more helpful than you shows up,haha.
I'll still build a shrine. We have to do that for art class( really). I'll put some cat statues in it and dedicate it to you.

I guess plushies can be shells for spirits but I have never herd of a single case.
I know some folks name their vehicles. I have never done that. I just call them by their model name....Come to think of it, there are also haunted vehicles. The most famous one is a Porsche owned by James Dean(do you know who that is?) If you google "haunted vehicles", you will find quite a few of them. I have head of some motorcycles being haunted in the past.
Why your art teacher would kill you? Because of his "gay rumor" or less enthusiastic female figures? It is a well-known theory. She probably has heard of it.
It is hard to immigrate to anywhere in this continent. I don't mind Canada but I don't know any French
I am sure there are a few sculptors in your age. Deviant art used to be a good place for young artists to hang and exchange tips and such but they seems to lost quite bit of traffic in past few years. I have noticed many people quit using.
You can call me, oldman, old geezer, whatever you like but not sir. I am not a sir. I also hate to be called "artist"
Okay. Here is a tip on your problem. I have a several small microwavable bowls filled with wax, and sit under a heat lamp (incandescent bulb light) That would keep the wax soft enough like the hardness of sculpey; easier to push. I also have a candle warmer underneath when I want them to more soupy and keep it that way. You want to change the pose of figure when it is hard? Easy. put it in a microwave again. it will heat the inside of wax, make it soft enough to bend. But as you might suspected, do not microwave too long. Smaller the piece is, the shorter the time. I would start with 10-20 seconds. Also do not have any metal in the wax. It will burn, start the fire inside of microwave. For the reason, if I ever put armature, I tend to use wooden dowels, toothpicks. Except fingers. I can heat the hands of sculpture with a heat gun or with flame from the torch. Here is pictures of my desk. you can spot the heat lamp, candle warmer also a waxer.
67.media.tumblr.com/e47be64f43…
67.media.tumblr.com/7367687b36…
If your torch lamp's flame is too much, you can adjust that by trimming or pulling the wick to the bottom( do not pull it out; it will be hard to put back inside) just have about a millimeter of wick sticking out. I also stick a brass rod into the wick to weaken the flame bit. I do that to save alcohol. As I keep the thing lit pretty much all day when I have a project, it makes huge difference at the end of the day.
Here is a picture of my torch. There is a black thing sticking out from the wick, that is the brass rod. I adjust the flame barely touches the torch rod.
66.media.tumblr.com/3b7deadd4f…
Since the flame is relatively tiny, I can't have a fan or any wind. it will blow the flame out. So can't use the thing outside.
OKie dokie! I will be looking froward to seeing the pictures of you wearing the shirt, holding your kitties then. If I ever post those pictures at facebook, I will send you the link.
I am sure that you will find other sculptors who are better teachers to you in the future. I am not a member at those forums but there are a few garage kit forums and there are many sculptors who can share tips and tricks. Here are some.
theclubhouse1.net/phpBB3/viewf…
Haha you don't need to make a shrine for my sake, but if that doubles as your art assignment, I guess I will be intrigued and be excited to see it when you finish. Please be sure to post a picture of it here.
Take care, Maja

Oh yeah forgot about that. We get those ads thrown onto my driveway every Sunday. It is crazy how easy and cheap it is to get guns here. Even after bunch of 6 year old kids slaughtered at a school, they don't do shit about gun control. I try to send those gun ads when I ship my works to overseas to show rest of the world how stupid this country is about all the guns. Haha not gonna send you any guns. it will get confiscated at custom. Guns are mostly used here for accidentally killing family members or a tool of suicide.

Doesn't really convince me..
Yup, I know James Dean, quite a cool guy. I hope I don't get a crazy haunted bike, maybe giving it a cute name will expel the ghost out of it.
Because she would think I make fun of one of her divine old artists. I like to mess up her art class sometimes if she starts talking bullshit. I wouldn't do that if she wouldn't behave like a master of arts who has the only correct way of doing things. She knows shit about actual techniques, but learned all her dates and time periods. I'm less interested in actual art, more in craftmanship.
Don't know franch either, I chose latin instead(bad choice).
Alright maybe stay with old geezer until I find something better. You don't consider yourself as an artist? Maybe more something like a craftsman? That's what I think I am at least. Artists always seems to be a person putting deep thoughts in their work. I barely think anything when I sculpt. I'm from a family of craftsman, anyway, maybe they passed it on.
Oh thanks, that seems quite useful! Wonder why I didn't think of that..Will be way easier to work now.
I will never ever put metal in a microwave again. I had aluminum foil in there..I thought it would explode.
Your desk looks awesome..I love having tons of tools laing around, feels like a workshop. Also nice to spot a few cats. They must be happy to be allowed to sleep on your desk, I banned mine from my desk. They go there anyway.
I tried that, it worked out perfectly. I'll also get some brass rod, the use of alcohol seems to be quite high.
I wonder if there is any other way to extinguish the flame besides the plastic top? The torch burned a little hole in there as I put it back on, the metal part seems to be askew, or I'm stupid.
A thunderstorm started right after I finished assembling everything outside, I'll work in my room.
You know I'm bad at holding deadlines, but I'll try to get more pictures this week and send at least a few next weekend. I have one as my Deviantart ID right now If you wanna check it out,but you can't see that much of the shirt unfortunately..
I just signed in, thanks for showing it seems to have some useful stuff!
If I have to do a shrine anyway...I think a cat shrine is way cooler than a church. We have about 8 weeks to finish, I'll post some stuff!
I will, you take care of you and your cats, too

As long as you get a bike that was not in a wreck, I believe there is no chance of it being haunted. All of them that are haunted usually was in wreck and someone being killed on or with.
Not a much of a James Dean fan. I still don't get people being crazy bout him. I like McQueen better.
Haha sounds like you have a good relationship with your art teacher. But is she more of an art history teacher?
Latin? I think Klingon is more spoken language than the Latin now. You know some crazy parents raised a kid in a forest only speaking Klingon? The kid did not know any other language to use. Some also translated entire new-testament Bible into Klingon as well. Crazies...
Did I tell you that German was most spoken language in the US besides English till the WW2. I hear there is a town or two in Texas where most of resident speak German over English.
I went to art schools and encountered too many of so-called "artist" trying to be a philosopher of some kind. Also many self-proclaimed artists happened to have crappy dexterity skills. I do not want to be in the club. Yeah I identify myself more with craft-person or artisan. Seems like you are on the same page. I like that.
Thanks. My work desk is messy but works. Some clients complains about cat furs in the wax, but my quality of life drops significantly if I banned all of my cats from my studio. I like petting them during breaks. Tibbs also demands petting by head bumping me time to time.
Good. yeah I adjust my torch's flame pretty small; it is often hard to keep it lit at the beginning. What? the cap is for preventing the alcohol from evaporating while not in a use. It is not for extinguishing the flame. Just blow on it to put it out like candles on a birthday cake. I would cover the hole in the cap with electrical tape or find something that works as a cap for it. Also you can bend the torch rod to adjust. Don't do it too often though. It will break. Again please make sure the flame is out every time you get up from your work desk. Be safe!
Oh okay. I see you are wearing the shirt there. Thanks. You look to be a very attractive young lady.
Yeah many of the info and tips there at the forum are pretty useful. I used to visit there quite often when I started to use castilene instead of sculpey..
Okay Peace out Maja!

Hey, is there a finished version of this sculpture too or are you still working on this beauty?

Thank you for the comment!
It is actually nearly finished, it just needs a base to stand on and some small details! I still have two other parts of this "tutorial " (sculpting the rider and painting it), I will upload them soon!

Is that "stuffing" pure cotton or does it have synthetic fibers? Isn't it dangerous to put those in the oven?

I actually used pure sheep wool for those stuffing. You can also use cotton, those materials won't burn or melt in the oven at 120 °C.
I'm not quite sure about synthetic fibers...but I saw on deviantart that someone used them in the oven, too!
However, I don't really trust that material, but you can always put synthetic stuff in the oven and slowly increase the temperature and see what happens!

Oh, gotcha! Wool makes sense to me. And that's interesting about burning. I know the burning point of paper is higher, but I'd still have worried about paper towels at that temp if you hadn't said it was OK. I don't think I'd want to try it on synthetics, though. I don't trust them either. Even if it didn't melt, I'm pretty sure it would put some nasty stuff in the air.
Thanks for sharing all this great information!

Yes, synthetic fibers aren't really healthy I guess... And I'm always a little bit scared that something could react with the sculpey... That's why I prefer natural stuff!
I'm glad I could help!
