Isn't it the wife of Will Smith - Jada Pinkett-Smith?
Looks very vivid - as if she would follow the car with her eyes while her hair blows of its speed.

Fantastic fun capture!

One question, why the crop? It looks great in black and white too, sucks about the clear type on the billboard though, but hey, just means its a sharp catch!

Anywho, saw this as your featured and had to have a look, its great, reminds me of the work you have in your journal, good stuff.

thanks.. but again with the crop questions! well, i wanted to tighten it up a bit so people "got" it easier. there really is no value to the dead space in the frame anyway, in my opinion.

Awesome shot, and such an original concept. Maybe i am just concentrating on the physics of it too much but if the car was on the other side this would make more sense, her hair would be blown into her face if she was actually being affected by the traffic. Still, i really love this shot, a fav for me.

haha wow, two of my favorite photographers who i chat with managed to get a conenction outside of me! is a great guy...

and i this photo, moreso than many of your other ones, because between the speed of the car and the hair of the advertisement girl... perfect. very schnaazzy.

damn it Clayton you really kicked my butt with that photo.
I'm still looking at it after a couple of minutes saying to me that is such an impressive example of what is and what should be street photography.
You have a great vision of life and of things that surround you.
I can only add a fav to that wonderful concept.

baby-alien91 [2006-01-03 19:53:33 +0000 UTC]

I love the fact that her hair is up in the air like that, quite possibly one of the best ads you could have in the shot. I saw up there that your were considering a night shot.. I think you should, because it would be really cool in color.

I like how the car is so blurred it's subtle, and you don't really notice it until you look at the title or look closer. Plus it looks like there are no tires. Heh.

claytes In reply to baby-alien91 [2006-01-03 20:08:54 +0000 UTC]

thanks.. and yeah a night shot in color could be really cool, unfortunately the ad is now down so this will have to do i guess

i'd actually love to do a whole series on bus stop ads, but most of them require people to be doing certain things that you just aren't likely to see in order to create the ironic relationships..

I love the surreal nature of this shot (but agree with the comment below about the car being too blurred)

great observation, Cartier-Bresson would be proud!

perfectless [2006-01-03 13:42:19 +0000 UTC]

a very nice idea. the car is maybe not clearly enough to see, I had to look at it some minutes to find the clue...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

claytes In reply to perfectless [2006-01-03 19:00:15 +0000 UTC]

i think if the car was less blurred the effect wouldn't be sold as well, considering her hair is very much up in the air
thanks for the comment

welcome. that might be a good idea, shooting it at night. the light streaks would be awesome! but this is awesome as it is. the night shot would work wonderfully in color. this one's very effective in black and white.
