Warning: Swearing and Mature Stuff
The homely atmosphere of the Scouting Legion’s headquarters, thick as it could be with the sound of clattering plates and friendly chatter, filled everyone with happiness and a sense of relief. Festive lights flickered and danced joyfully as they lit up the crowded dining hall, brightening the green and red decorations that were strung up on the walls. Wreaths and hollies were hung up on doors and other spaces within the building. Mistletoes were sticking out at random places, as if they wanted people to circle around it and not get ensnared in its vicious trap. Outside, where the beautiful, soft flurries of snow coated the ground, there were standing snowmen, each with their own sets of scarves, hats, noses, eyes, hands and mouths. And a bright Christmas tree, decorated with lights and ornaments, towered over everyone and still housed no presents yet.
But out of all this, there was one man who refused celebrate.
“No,” Levi said.
“Please, Levi?”
“No.”
“Pretty please?”
“I said no.”
“Why? Is Corporal Shorty afraid of big bad snowmen and mistletoes?” Hange’s golden brown eyes suddenly looked up from him and brightened with mischief as she settled them on a soldier from across the room. “Or are you afraid of Hart?” She smirked evilly.
Levi looked up from his half-empty plate and glared at the squad leader opposite of him. “I am not afraid of anything, shitty glasses. You better watch your tongue.” He went back to playing with his piece of roasted chicken and chopped potatoes.
“Aw, come on, Shorty! Cheer up! Tomorrow is your birthday!” Hange grinned. Her eyes shone through her glasses as she came up with a devious plan. “Katrina!” she called. The one called Katarina excused herself from the conversation she was engaged in and walked over to the superiors’ table.
“Yes, Hange?” Katrina replied with her soft, sweet honey-like voice, saluting. Standing at about 5”2’, she wore her green Wings of Freedom cape on top of a colorful hand-knitted sweater that went up to her mid-thighs and long black pants that hid her flawless figure. Her smooth, fair skin took in the brightness of the room, making her glow in the candlelight. Her slender index finger twirled a loose piece of silky blonde hair out of habit as she waited for Hange to say something.
“Come over and sit here!” Hange said excitedly.
“A-at the superiors’ table?” Katrina asked in disbelief, shuffling her feet, “Really?”
“Yeah, Kat!”
“Okay…” she shouted over the loud voices. Slightly blushing, she nervously walked back to her table while picking up her plate and telling the others about the invitation, and returned to the superiors’ table, where she sat on an empty wooden chair next to grumpy Levi. She scooted forward and smiled at the Corporal, who was secretly trying to make himself disappear from the table. “Hello Corporal,” Katrina half-yelled.
“Hello, cadet,” he greeted back as he stared at his plate. Silently cursing himself for taking a risk, he stopped playing with his food and slowly looked up to see Katrina’s face brighten. As usual, she had tied her hair in a messy bun, letting a few strands of hair fall by her cheeks. Her bangs were a little shorter, so Levi could easily get lost in her amethyst purple eyes. But of course, he was most engrossed in her soft pink lips, moving to create the words that charmed him and put him under her spell. He would always think about the way she would look at him with those cute puppy eyes when she begged him for what she wanted, how her short dark blue night robe and long socks would always try to tempt him into disrobing her and staring at her naked body…and oh, how he imagined her whispering dirty things in his ear while caressing his bare chest and brushing those slightly swollen lips across his own…
“Um…Corporal, sir? Are you okay? Corporal?”
He could hear her lovely voice calling out to him.
“Corporal? Can you hear me?”
Levi’s breath hitched when he suddenly felt her lips right next his right ear and her gentle hands carefully placing themselves on each of his shoulders.
“Levi?”
The way she said his name…it was as if he was hers and hers only.
“Levi? Heichou! Are you okay?”
Levi bolted upright and blinked tiredly a few times. He looked at the worried Katrina after shooting a deathly glare at Hange, who was trying so hard not to laugh. “I’m fine, brat,” he said in a bored monotone voice. He cursed himself again for looking at her after he directed his attention back to his food.
“I’m glad you’re fine, Levi – I mean, Corporal, sir,” she quickly corrected herself and gave him a small smile again, removing her hands from his shoulders and picking up a fork.
“Tch,” was all he said.
“Shorty’s pretty tired today, Kat. Don’t mind him,” Hange snorted, grinning like a Cheshire cat. Just at that moment, Erwin, who was next to Hange, turned towards the trio.
“Hello, Cadet Hart,” Erwin smiled. “How are you enjoying the celebration?”
“It’s wonderful, sir,” Katrina beamed. “I only focused on making the food perfect, so I didn’t really notice-”
“You made the food, Hart?”
Levi was staring at her, dumbfounded – and also trying not to get lost in her eyes. “Er…y-yes, Corporal, sir, I made the food,” she stuttered, her cheeks turning a bright shade of pink.
He hummed in satisfaction. “Tch, you make good food, cadet. How much of it did you prepare?”
“I baked the turkeys and chicken, made the salad and potatoes, the desserts, and…the…” Katrina put a finger to her lips as she tried to remember the last thing she made. Levi’s and Erwin’s eyes immediately settled on her lips, while Hange’s widened, since she knew what Katrina was about to say.
“H-hey Katrina? How about you tell us about what you found earlier today?” Hange quickly said, changing the subject. “Remember?”
Katrina hung her head, letting her bangs cover most of her face. She just remembered that she wasn’t supposed to tell anyone else about the other thing that she made. But why bring this up, Hange?!
“Hange…” The squad leader just grinned and laughed.
“What did you find?” Erwin asked, raising an eyebrow.
She kept her lips zipped tight and refused to utter a word.
Laughing even more, the mad scientist said, “She found Levi’s -”
“Hange!” she practically screamed, which made some of the superiors near them flinch. Katrina rarely raised her voice like that.
“Found what?”
She turned to see the ebony haired man glaring at her through her bangs. “F-f-found...u-umm…” She suddenly found interest in Levi’s pale shirt, and could see some of his ripping muscles through the thin fabric. The way his lips were slightly parted secretly drove her crazy. She immediately looked somewhere else.
“Oi, mad scientist, don’t make Hart’s face put her red sweater to shame,” he said in a boring tone, looking at Hange, before turning to the bright red cadet. “What did you find, cadet?”
“One of your shirts!” she blurted out, unable to contain her guilt for not telling anyone immediately, “I found one of your favorite shirts in a mud puddle that was full of ice and what not! I took it and I stayed up all night washing it. That’s why I was really tired this morning sir! I made sure it was sparkly clean – just how you like it,” she muttered the last part to herself. “I’m sorry for everything, Heichou.”
The squad leader laughed even more, turning almost as red as Katrina herself. “She found your underwear, too!” Then she leaned on the appalled Erwin to keep herself steady as she howled with laughter, attracting some attention from the rest of the soldiers.
“Hart?” Erwin asked uncertainly.
“Y-yes, Danchou?”
“Did you really-?”
“Yes,” she said shamefully. “I had to! I couldn’t leave it there! I’m so sorry!”
Meanwhile, the Lance Corporal was trying to piece everything he heard together. He could only imagine dirty things she might have done, like purr seductively into his ear while he was sleeping.
Mortified, he shook his head and glared at the petite girl. “Hart,” he growled, “20 pushups for not telling me this earlier. And don’t forget to report to my office for paperwork after you’re done.”
“Y-yes sir!” she squeaked, getting up to do the pushups.
Hange, sensing this after trying to calm down, said, “Nope! No pushups and no paperwork, Kat! You’re spending the night in my lab!”
The short man intensified his glare. “20 pushups and paperwork, Hart. Now.”
“Katrina~ don’t do it! It’s an order! It’s Christmas, for Pete’s sake!” The poor girl, who was standing, decided to sit back down after Hange ordered her to do so. The grouchy Corporal scowled, before turning his attention back to his plate and ignoring the victorious squad leader’s grin.
I’m surprised he gave up so quickly, Katrina thought before she apologized to Levi for not obeying him. “Tch. Stop apologizing so much, idiot,” he grumbled, not even bothering to look up.
After a moment, she smiled a little and turned back to the slightly appalled Erwin to continue what she said earlier. “Danchou, I apologize for the interruption earlier, but as I was saying I didn’t really notice the decorations until tonight because I was focused on making the food perfect.”
“I see,” the commander replied, his face changing into an amused expression and eyes sparkling with excitement, “The food is simply astonishing. How can you create something like this?” He smiled at the flustered beauty.
The conversation continued back and forth between Erwin and Katrina, sometimes receiving random comments from other superiors. Erwin questioned and complemented the cadet, sometimes earning a blush, a flustered reply or a small smile; even a giggle or two after a funny remark.
“Levi!”
Levi looked up to find Hange smirking.
“Still don’t want to celebrate?”
