The thick steam rose from the corpse. The skinny, 12-meter titan that ate a soldier a moment ago was now lying on its front, the nape of its neck neatly cut. It was deep; deep enough to successfully kill the brown-haired titan. Its murderer, who was standing on the roof, paid no attention to his victim. He was taking his time wiping the blood from his swords. The Wings of Freedom on his flowing green cape gleamed in the sunlight, warning his enemies of his presence.
“Nice one!” a giggly voice called out.
Pausing, the man glanced at his shiny blades and caught a glimpse of 3 figures prancing happily on the roof; two of them much shorter than the third. Steam was also coming from their side.
“What do we say when we’re kicking their base?” one of the shorter ones chanted.
“We say, ‘K.O! K.O!’” the other two replied in a chant.
“What do they do when we all say, ‘Boo!’?”
“They say, ‘Uh-oh! Uh-oh!’”
“Yeah!” they all cried out in unison and high-fived each other.
“Idiots,” the man gritted through his teeth and put his cloth away. He straightened his cravat and turned around, glaring at the three.
“Brats. All three of you will get killed if you keep on prancing the way you are right now,” he said loud enough to let them hear him from the roof he was standing on.
One of them, a short blonde, faced the annoyed Corporal and flashed him a cheeky grin. “Well, well! Look who came to join us! It’s Corporal Shorty!” Immediately, the other two also turned around and looked in Levi’s direction.
“My favorite shorty!” the tallest one exclaimed. Next thing he knew he was being squeezed to death.
“Idiot…” he grunted as he tried to fight against her grip, “Let me go.”
“Say please!”
“Shitty glasses…”
“Aww, Hange! Don’t kill Humanities Shortest,” someone whined behind them.
“Yeah, we need him to do what he does as the shortest guy in the Scouting Legion’s history,” another person with a similar voice mocked.
“And you can’t say we’re short ‘cause we still have 5 years to finish growing!” the two of them cheered in unison.
Levi grunted as he rubbed his stomach after Hange let go of him. Two short figures popped up in front of him. “’Sup, Shorty!” they said. The blondes were fraternal mirror-image twins, Katrina and Oliver Hart – Oliver being a lefty and Katrina being a righty, and they were both barely into their teens. Oliver had somewhat short and curly hair and Katrina had shoulder length hair. Both were the same height (about 4 ft. 8) and had amethyst purple eyes that shone like bright crystals. Another thing that they had in common was that they were known as the “Notorious Prankster Twins” by the Survey Corps and anyone else who knew the two.
“Heichou~ you’re not falling for me, are you?” Katrina teased, waving her hand in front of Levi’s face. He noticed that he was blanking out and growled at Katrina, hitting her hand away to which she pouted and whined about how much her hand “hurt”.
“Shorty?” Hange asked, suddenly serious.
“What?”
“Where’s everyone?”
Looking up, Levi noticed the lack of soldiers within his line of vision. Even the twins looked up and realized what was going on.
There were a couple of 8 meter titans far away. Steam rose out of different spots throughout the district. Rooftops were stained with blood and dulled swords as well as remains of dead bodies. Hange was right – not a soul in sight.
Oh no! Not again…why? Levi thought, but he kept his anxiety at a minimum. He knew he couldn’t do anything else besides what he did before. He felt like a puppet in a show; a show that replayed his unwanted memories over and over again until it drove him insane.
“Great! We’re stuck here in this titan wasteland!” exclaimed the frustrated twins, “What are we going to do now?”
This is it…
Levi looked at the twins and rolled his eyes. “Like you even care.”
3…
“Of course we care,” Katrina scoffed, “How else are we going to eat and sleep in peace? Live in a titan’s stomach?”
2…
“Plus, we won’t be able to talk to Petra and Gunther or prank Oluo! Gosh, dude,” Oliver said, but he went even further by adding, “And aren’t you Humanities Strongest? You’ve got to be kidding me…more like Humanities Pettiest…” Even Katrina seemed shocked at what he said.
1…
“Well, I don’t care about your sorry ass pranks or your conversations, Hart!” Levi snarled at Oliver, his patience finally snapping against his will, “I swear to the gods, I hope you die someday realizing that your existence is a mistake, you useless, pathetic clown! Use your goddamn brain for once! Even your brainless sister thinks better than you!”
…0.
Suddenly, a hand flew down and smacked the two kids into a building. Hange crashed into a house not far from the twins.
Damn it! It’s happening again!
Levi turned around to find a skinny titan that seemed to be an abnormal. Swords drawn, he jumped of off the roof and used his gear to zip through the titan’s legs and slice it. Once the titan was on its knees, he swiftly cut the nape of its neck and killed it quickly, then safely landed on the ground. Turning around, he spotted a soldier screaming out a name, digging into a building that collapsed next to her. It was horrendous watching her
Katrina…
Shit!
“Hart!” he yelled, but before he could move, he was slammed into a house not far away, and flew straight through it in slow motion. The sky above him was white, and from the looks of the loose wires coming from his gear, he knew he was screwed.
“Levi...”
It was an angel’s voice. It had to be. He couldn’t have survived a blow like this.
“Please come back to me…I missed you…”
Katrina appeared right above him, arms wound around his frame tightly. Her face was inches from his; he could feel her hot breaths on his face. This Katrina wasn’t the one he encountered earlier – it was the older and more beautiful Katrina. Her hair was longer and silkier; her eyes shone like crystals; and her red lips were as rosy as ever. Even though this moment was played in his head over and over again, Levi still couldn’t get rid of the initial surprise. It was so hard to get used to her since she seemed to grow more beautiful every time he saw her.
“Katrina…” Tears blurred his vision as he slowly returned the embrace. He remembered now.
It was the day she saved him.
Katrina smiled as soon as her name slipped from his lips. “Levi, I’ll save you…Don’t leave me yet…”
She leaned closer, opening her mouth slightly, until they were both millimeters away. Her eyes expressed her love in volumes. She then closed the gap and –
…
“SHORTY!”
Bang!
“LE- oh, there you are, short stack! I was wondering where you-”
The shirtless man slowly rose up to an upright position on his bed before giving the scariest expression known to mankind that would surely haunt a normal person for the rest of their lives. But, of course, Hange was known not to be normal.
“I’ll just leave,” she whispered, skipping out hurriedly. Hange knew how he acted if someone disrupted his sleep suddenly – which is why she brought her secret weapon along…
“Levi?” a honeyed voice called out. The other figure who walked into Levi’s room turned out to be the woman of his dreams. His expression softened immediately.
“Hart,” he called out.
“Levi,” she repeated, walking over and sitting down next to him. She wore gray sweats and a thick blue sweater along with a green and red furry hat. Her hair was down today, and it flowed to her lower back. Gods, his name sounded so good every time she said it. He could imagine her screaming his name and begging for him…
“Are you okay?” Katrina’s hand made her way to his built abdomen and traced his abs. She shifted a little towards the left and rubbed the area softly, causing Levi to wince. Noticing this, she stopped rubbing but kept her hand over the spot. “Does it hurt?” she asked, her words laced with concern and sympathy. He nodded.
“I’ll get you something to drink and eat as well as a needle. Stay here, alright?” Katrina gave him a warm smile before cupping the side of his face and giving him a soft kiss on his cheek. “Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday,” she whispered before standing up and leaving, making sure to close his bedroom door softly.
Touching his cheek, he could still feel her warm lips on his kiss. It made his heart flutter with joy, something that no one had ever done to him in his life. He closed his eyes blissfully and whispered to no one,
“I need you, Katrina. More than ever…”
