Description
The father became alarmed and promised to obey him.So he went to the girl and said: "My child, if I do not chop off both your hands, the Devil will carry me away, and in my terror I have promised to do it. Help me in my need, and forgive me the harm I do you."
She replied: "Dear Father, do with me what you will, I am your child."
Thereupon she laid down both her hands and let them be cut off.

You know... Looking at this picture reminds me of a sentence I read somewhere: The most horribles nightmares are the ones that hide in the sweetest dreams. Somehow, this expression fits perfectly here.
The colors, the sparkles and even the trees create a fascinating, almost dream-like, atmosphere. You really feels like you entered a fairytale. The green and purple colors of the leaves certainly gives off that impression. And Miku's is so beautiful in her dress and the way she wants to eat that.. pear, I think, that we can't help but be mesmerised.
And then we see her arms. And everything changes.
The forest become a cage, the lake turns into a dark mirror and the pear appears as the most evil temptress in the world. One single thing that turns a lovely paradise in an horrible land. And yet, Miku still bear such a serene and graceful expression. And although we understand her reasons because of your tales, we (or at least I) can't help but feels horrified for Miku's fate, even thought she's at peace with it. That's something that feels wierd to me. Love your little story too. Very Grimm and Folklore-like. It shows well how sometimes, it's our children and loved ones who pays for our mistakes.
Excellent job. That picture sure made me feels many conflicted things. In terms of disturbing feelings, this is, in it's own way, on par with the Skeletal Horror and the Forest of Death that you drew before. Interestingly enough, all three show a different kind of fear.
Keep up the good work. You are on a roll.

I'm glad to hear that it struck you that way, that was the type of impression I was going for with this piece. ^ ^
The story is not my own though, it is an actual story from the brother's Grimm. I had read it not too long ago when I had some free time and knew that I wanted to
try to re-illustrate the image that was in my book. I have a link to the original that inspired me in my description.
Thank you again for your critique, I appreciate it.

A very beautiful piece of art. I love how you based it off of a story.
Not only is this a smart idea, but your art is magnificent sis.
It is absolutely gorgeous in many ways, like the wonderfully well done background. Decorated
with every little details and textures such as, the moss, bark, waves, shadows, shines,
fog, and don't forget the perfectly done shadows of trees in the distance.
Miku is greatly done as well with her beautiful hair details and shades, absolutely marvelous.
All you need now is the prince that falls in love with her later. I am referring to Len. XD
This is truly is a wonderful masterpiece.

Hey Cleopatrawolf! Back in Japan in 2016, there was a new Godzilla film! It was called Shin Godzilla. (Also called Godzilla Resurgence) In the film Godzilla had a much more menacing look, He had a very scary face! Also his atomic breath color was different. It was purple. I went to see the movie at the Oviedo Mall in Florida. It played there for a limited time. but the language was japanese. But it dosn't matter that it had a different language, I wanted to see it and it was awesome! So What do you think about the 2016 Godzilla? Also here are some Shin Godzilla videos.

Thank you!
"The Girl Without Hands" is a brothers grimm fairy tale, I actually hadn't heard of it either a few weeks ago until I sat down with my old Grimm's Grimmest book and read it.
I thought it was a rather interesting tale so it inspired me to make this picture. ^ ^
