Created for the M15 Core Set of Magic: The Gathering. This one was a lot of fun and gave me the chance to put to use some things I had been picking up watching the Face Off competition. Really beautiful piece, glad you posted it here so we can get a better look at the iridescent wings and lovely blue petals. Also, her expression ain't so cute closer up, she looks more like a warden out to tie up some prisoners/boggarts. Still cute, but definitely more mean, as is the nature of a lot of fairies!

I can't believe you actually were inspired by aspects of techniques used in Face-Off! I mean, I can its just crazy cool! My friend and I were talking about the card art on some cards from some booster packs we'd opened at our store and Laura's Face-Off facial makeup techniques came up when we looked at this card. That's awesome! XD The artwork is superb!

Yeah, Laura repeatedly (and to great effect) used graduated color shifts across skintones and I was keen to try that.

Well, the brief called for a fairy/sprite character partly made of plant and or insect elements so it's hard not to be reminiscent of the Sylvari
