Description This has been eating my brain and my not-very-abundant free time for the last few weeks. Maybe now that it's finished I can have my life back?

I couldn't think up anything good for a title, but both character have enough hidden layers and motives that the contrast between light and dark seemed appropriate (it's also my absolute favourite style of art).

Created using GIMP 2, a mouse, and far too much time.

I used several brushes from redheadstock to create the fire, the fabric textures, and (though you can't see them) River's eyelashes. The smoke is courtesy of [link]

The background is a photo of the jungle in Belize which I took three years ago. The heat and humidity did fun things to the film.

I just realized that I forget the braces. Damn it! It's always something.

This is great! You are really good at drawing people. I particularly love the texture and depth you managed. It helped to bring out the emotions of the characters and the situation.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks AR!

I did kind of cheat on the textures though, heh.

True about the texture, but your choice of texture, color, and depth made it eye-catching. A less talented artist may not have seen the fluency of the combination to bring out the emotion of the moment.
