Edit: Forgot to say, he was raised in several different foster homes after his parents gave him up at the age of five. Actually, he's not really sure why they gave him away, if they were together, or any of the nitty-gritty details. He can't remember anything before five-years-old.

Kevin is a socially awkward young adult (but what teenager/young adult isn't?) who seems to wear winter clothes all year round. This isn't necessarily true, (though baggy clothes are more comfortable to him) but he does wear that scarf all the time, everywhere. Take him to the beach on the 4th of July, he would wear swim trunks, a t-shirt, and that scarf. No lie. There's a reason for this (other than scarves are crazy fun to draw), and it's a mental one. It'll be fleshed out more in the comic.

He suffers from DID: Dissociative Identity Disorder. Or, more commonly known as, 'Multiple Personality Disorder'. (There's a very informative page on it here: allpsych.com/journal/did/#.VWZ… )

Now, for the sake of the story his disorder isn't very realistic. If you've actually studied this disorder, just... Just don't read the comic. It has a lot of interesting ideas and tidbits to play with or mull over, but--keep in mind--it's a Sci-Fi story. Things are blown out of proportion.
