Angel Beats! is a great anime, but I've got to say that Kill la Kill and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are much better.

And Higurashi looks interesting. I just finished a similar anime - similar meaning horror. I just finished watching Another and I absolutely loved it, despite all the blood and gore. Definitely saving Higurashi among my 50+ other anime waiting in my queue. xD

lol XD I never heard of those before, I'll check them out! I recently watched the first episode of Dangan Ronpa, it seems interesting so far. (besides the fact my friend spoiled that my fave character dies in second episode XD)
Since I finished Kuroshitsuji (black butler), I haven't got anything else to do but finish Higurashi until season 3 comes out!

I can safely recommend both Kill la Kill (which, btw, is still airing) and Puella Magi Madoka Magica to any anime fan. Kill la Kill, despite what it looks like at first, is a really meaningful, and masterful anime done by Studio TRIGGER - what TRIGGER has done with this anime is a great thing; there are so many well thought out themes in Kill la Kill, it's staggering that a relatively new studio has pumped out something of this high a caliber and quality. If you liked Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill is perfect for you.

I'm assuming that you like psychological thrillers from your liking of Higurashi. Puella Magi Madoka Magica - or its original name, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - is a magical girl deconstruction anime and holy hell is it amazing. I don't know if you know Gen Urobuchi, but if you do, Gen Urobuchi was the script director of it. If you liked anime like Fate/Zero or Psycho-Pass, he's the same person who made all three of these anime. I won't say anything plot-wise, but I really, really recommend you try it out.

Coincidence: I've been watching K-On in the past 3-5 days. And I am in love with it.

My favorite character's hard to say, but I'd say it's a mix of Ritsu, Azunyan, and Yui~
