Description
The Minolta XD5 has been very good to me over the last 15 years. Handed down to me from my father who also had a passion for photography, I have used this camera since I was the age of 10. When I first started I must have went through hundreds of dollars worth of film to try and figure out what each thing does, shutter speed, film speed, f-stop, etc... It was a hell of a camera for a 10 yr old. I have many fond memories of traveling around Europe taking artistic pictures with it, from England, Germany, Austria, to even Switzerland. But now it just sits in my collection of vintage cameras and collects dust. Every time I look at it I can't help but smile and think of all the wonderful times. How without this camera I would not be the photographer I am today.
There is just something about film that I love! Maybe its the anticipation to see how a specific shot turns out compared to how instant everything is with digital, or even the sound of film cameras with their very distinct shutter sound. One of these days I'm going to buy a new roll of film and put it in this 31 year old bad boy for old times sake.
But for now rest easy my old Minolta, someday my son will learn from you as I did.

Hmm, are there any good cameras around 400-500 dollars that you can suggest me too? I am going with the nikon since they are really trusted and there name is known around the globe. I just want something that I can capture in an HD quality. I am sure any camera can do that with the tweaks of certain settings.

Just about any new DSLR can capture images with over 1080 lines. But the only one that can capture HD video is the canon 5d Mk. II. I just bought one but I have yet to try it out. I would look at the Canon Rebel (XSi) that fits in your price range but for a couple hundred more you could get a 40D which is a wonderful camera and is consider semi-pro instead of consumer. consumer are usually plastic and without a few features. My suggestion would be to save money on the camera and buy the best glass you can. The lens 90% of the image quality.
