The arachnids from Ice Spiders are essentially hybrids. Created by the government to craft silk that would be used for body armor, the spiders are the genetic hybrid between a prehistoric spider and modern species. This was explained by one of the scientists in the movie as the DNA from the fossilized spider was incomplete (just like in Jurassic Park where modern tree frog was needed to make the dinosaurs), thus several types of modern spider was needed to fill in the blanks.

Ice Spiders was another childhood classic. A fun watch, I recommend if you want a decent SyFy movie.

The spiders are ravenous and aggressive. Due to their rapid growth caused by steroids and high choleric in their food, their high metabolic rate allows them to survive in below zero temperatures. This unfortunately has the side effect of burning through nutrients and required supplements; if they don't eat every few hours, they will starve to death.

Six spiders were made, each a different species with their own 'personalities'. Dr. April Sommers, one the main protagonists, explains the spiders' origin. She also reveals that two of the spiders have names and distinct personalities. The Black Widow is named Charlotte and is described as "...reclusive, sneaky" and "...stayed behind while the others broke out." One of them is a Jumping Spider, which one I'm not sure. He's earned the name Dorian and is described as "...smart, aggressive, relentless...". I kind of disagree with that naming. Hell, the Lynx Spider (its the green and red one with spikes on its legs) is the only one that fits compared to the others. It didn't stop until it found a way in the cabin lodge the human were hiding in, it was stab and shot multiple times yet kept coming, and was smart enough to test the defenses of the building before getting in.

The spiders included a Black Widow, Green Lynx, Spitting Spider, Jumping Spider, Common House Spider, with the sixth being unconfirmed.

Abilities, Attributes and Powers:
- their increase in size allows them to survive sub-zero temps.
- their desire to feed seems to blind them of any threat; they'd injure themselves just to get a bite
- the size increase means their silk is far stronger than normal. Their variation in species also means they can use their webs in unique ways
- their fangs seem to be exactly the same. Large, jagged edges like a steak knife and far larger compared to the head. The pedipalps also seem to be far different. They're thin, almost antenna like.
- Despite their differences, the spider's have no ill intention with one another. They work either individually or as a team.

Fright Factor: 9/10; their ability to live in frigid environments and high aggression makes them highly dangerous

- killed experienced hunters, several well armed soldiers
- while all but one was killed and confiscated by the government, with the incident covered up, it means that the Ice Spiders will return...
