Description
Fanart of Boktai (Bokura no Taiyou, "Our Sun"), a little known game by Konami. Had to do some of it because i'm picking it up again and oh man there's like little to no good Boktai fanart in dA.Featuring:
-Red Django, the solar boy
-and his dark vampiric alter-ego, Black Django

I really like this, could you make a version with aspect ratio of 16 9? I'd love to use this as my desktop wallpaper.

Uh, I kind of don't have the time right now, but it should be fairly easy to do if you pick the background colors and brush+smudge tool them into the rest of the canvas.

I bought the game few years ago after I saw a trailer of it on youtube
I just haven't got very far from the beginning because I have problems getting enough sunlight for the sensor ;__;

I was wondering why his character design looked so familiar, then I found out that Bokura no Taiyou is the series that has Lunar Knights (which I've played) in it. xD I honestly thought Lunar Knights wasn't part of a series, so I'll have to check the other games out sometime, especially the ones with this character in it. c:
I love how you used color to create contrast between the two. Great job!

Very nice! Loving the effects you used on Black Django especially. It almost reminds me of his berserk attack.
Really though, this is a lovely addition to the boktai tag! Glad to see your wonderful fanart~

You're very welcome, dear~
It's almost sad sometimes, how little boktai art shows up anymore. Pixiv has it a bit better off, but even that is seldom. Guess it's from waiting so long for another game, haha.

Yeah, it's sad. I think it'd make a great 3rd person action adventure game if they made it in a powerful console, heck maybe just the 3ds to keep the handheld vibe. Personally i wouldn't mind them "resetting" the series back to Boktai 1 if it meant they went all out on it.
Considering the Dainn icon, i assume you're a big fan of the series. Any chance you're a member of the old Boktai boards?

I have to agree with you on this! Especially when regarding the 3DS, as I feel the series might be better suited towards the handhelds. Then again, with proper execution, it'd do good on a console. Going back towards Boktai one might be cool, though I'll be honest my preference still lies in the system from Boktai 2 up. However, I suppose Shinbok would've been the one to have a better balance, as a mix of the first and second, though I was never too keen on using the overworld map instead of traveling from place to place. As I recall, Kojima has mentioned the series occasionally on twitter, though whether this means he'll pick it up again is another story.
I am, quite so! I tend to lurk around Boktai Online, and occasionally San Miguel Inn, but... that's as far as I got. Came in a bit too late to enjoy the things on GameFAQs/Gamespot, though I initially got into the series back in 2005. It was more a matter of discovering the internet at that point.
How about yourself?

Ah, i am familiar with but don't have an account on Boktai Online, but i'm a good friend of one of the olds mods. I've only heard of San Miguel Inn though.
Uh, i got into the game much later, can't reacll when. Boktai 2's more actiony style was nice, but i missed the feel of customizing the GunDelSol (even when it wasn't THAT customizable, they could've done so much with it), and i do enjoy stealth-heavy games. Ideally i'd enjoy a balanced combination of both systems, with Solar Forging for melee weapons and GunDelSol customization, and support on both approaches to the game (Kinda like Hitman. You can either come out and massacre everyone or actually take your time and sneak through the whole game). Also i really like the idea of 3D Django backed up against a wall, peeking around corners, diving for cover and knocking on walls to attrack atention.

Oh wow, this is really late, but hopefully not terribly off topic! Sorry for taking so long to reply. ;w;
I think both boards are almost completely dead, so I suppose there's that. I doubt they'll pick back up again, unless we see another game in the series.
That would be a good approach for a new one, for sure. On the 3DS this would be especially effective. I mean, you're right, there is so much they could do with it. I imagine the art style would also work well in 3D, though it's hard to say, since up until this point, it's always been sprites. That leaves me with another question, where on the "timeline" would such a game take place?

I have the first on and I love it! I think if it was for the requirement of playing in sun light it would of sold better, it has a great story and extremely interesting game play!

I actually think the real sunlight element makes it more fun (in spite of the fact that i'm playing it via emulator and have to manually set the sensor's signal).
