I see this as environmentalism--the bird looks like one of those birds that is dying around the Great Pacific Gyre of trash, eating more and more plastic until their stomachs just explode. In any case, this image is one of your finest, whether you were referencing that or not. It's an unusual mix of colors and less "swirly" than much of what you do. It's powerful...

Thank you so much for your insightful response. The dead birds giant scale in regard to the living ones does bring home the enormity of neglect...
on a hopeful note the center of the mandala symbol is still intact, inside its broken shell.

Dark is prevalent in mine as well... but I gave the beyond below more color to intensify the transition, the sand dollar, even though broken, still holds the mandala symbol shape... of course I enjoy the twisted dichotomy inherent in the name sand $ , sand the shapeshifter can be made into glass... reflective plate and yet so easily broken...
